I've got 50 acres of hilly, steep terrain full of massive (in some cases 200+ foot) trees, mix of redwood, oak, and fir. I'm looking at buying my first Dozer soon.
I've rented a Deere 450H for construction work, and liked it and the hydrostatic drive a LOT.
That said, I think I will need something a bit bigger for this place (terracing, grading, cutting and maintaining 14' wide roads, etc.) so I am looking hard at later year Deere 750c. (good weight/cost balance, new enough to scoot, not so new as to have constant computer problems.).
Thoughts? Opinions? Would you go much smaller or larger, if so, why? It's between Deere and Cat for me (local dealer support is a factor even/especially for an older machine. We are looking at early 2000s model year and a few thousand hours budget wise.)
