Allis Chalmers H3 Dozer

Hello all,

Been a while since I been here..

Just picked this up at a auction today. Hasn't run in a long time, been inside storage, hauled to the auction site. Run when put away. Ha, ha...

Engine may be stuck and left turning lever doesn' move a whole lot.

Won't have it home for a week, so did not get to dive into it too hard yet.

$1000.00 and Allis's are my favorites. A win, win. Had a HD10, but this is more practical for my putzin around.

Anyone with a brochure or picture of original ROPS for 1962, which is the year this beauty was born.

Thanks,

cb1

freightliner/freightshaker too ruff for laser?

Hello
my "classic" spectra laser seem to need realigning.... just did it few months ago. But i start carring it in saddle tool box of my spring suspenions Frieghtliner aka Freightshaker.... it does hit hard on bumps.

My question is before i spend money either servicing old laser or buying new self leveling laser are the laser able to handle the ruff ride or it is damaging the laser?

John Deere 310G Pump

My dad bought a 310g, today I ran it for the first time. It has 4000 hrs and the steering would act like it had air in it and stop turning for a second then go again. The loader is slow to raise and dump. The outriggers wouldn't lift it more than 10" with the front bucket down. the hoe is slow with hardly no down pressure.
So I figure it needs a new hyd. pump as all cyc. look dry and in good shape. My question is does anyone have any experience with buying a pump off EBAY they have a new one for $550.00. Do you guy's think it would be alright for a farm backhoe? Thanks for your thoughts, Mudober

Kobelco SK60 Mark III specs.

Looking at new machines and cannot find the boom lift and bucket breakout specs for my machine. Also auxiliary flow rates at the stick. It's hard to compare new machines when I am unsure of what I have. There seems to be a real gap in new machines between 12,500# and 18000#. I know mine is around the 14,750# mark.

Any suggestions?

tire/ rim question

I have a Gehl 6640 that has foam filled tires on it. The lug nuts came loose on one of the rear rims, I did not catch it in time and it did a number on the bolt holes. There is not a whole lot of tread on the rest of the tires. I was wondering what the best and cheapest solution was, get one new tire and foam filled tire, can the tires be recapped? I do have a set of ott that are usual on it. Thanks for the help

Coolant leak near rear tire - JD310C - any ideas?

Noticed a coolant leak near the drivers side rear tire, before i spend half my day tracking down this leak I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Why would coolant be traveling to the rear of the machine? noticed several hoses near the leak but that can be deceiving...... I thought maybe the leak was traveling so I park the machine on a down slope but still the leak towards the rear. Any tips would be great....thanks in advanced

06" New Holland D85 LT won"t move and has error codes.

Gary,

thank you for your response in the Case 850 thread. sorry to sidetrack you from vcat. As far as the background of the machine to date. When I first bought the machine the local dealer serviced the machine and I was told it had throttle pot issues. I believe that error code was 4321 and that occurred several times. When I got the machine and ran it, I ran into several problems within the first 10 hours of using it. I smelled a strong sulfur stench all day and sure enough the battery located in the left hand side door was swollen and about ready to burst. I took the alternator out and had that replaced because I was told the regulator was bad as well as the battery. That was the start of some strange issues. The machine ran great for another 30 hours. Then my operator calls me and says the machine is reading NO CAN and he cant read the error codes on the menu like you normally should. He pulls the battery leads and I believe a few of the fuses and he now able to run the machine again. We finish the job, shut down the machine and now the transmission error light is on and I have the 4522 and 4521 codes. took the machine back to the shop a month ago and its been sitting since then.

We took the two up and down switches out of the joystick, tested them with a meter using tiny phone line and continuity on the meter. Must have tried each switch 50 times and they worked. I did notice that when I ran the machine however that I had to really push hard or several times for the down button to work and adjust the speed % on the gauge. Do you think that test is sufficient to determine if the switches are working?

I will replace all the fuses and the lowest fuse block in the left side door. It was the 4 fuse block on the bottom row and thats the fuse that has a 30A in a 1A slot. cant remember at this moment what that slot is for.

As far as the parking brake issue, what it was doing was loading and stalling out the machine unless I had it full throttle. It would creep forward but it was loading the engine up as if I was pushing dirt. then at full throttle it seemed like it woud fight to go forward and turn slightly to the right making me think that the right track motor wasnt free to move.

I had mechanic come yesterday so I tilted cab. Disconnected the positive lead cause my master disconnect is broke(new one ordered). Looked around and then the mech wanted it to be lowered. So lowered cab and now the NO CAN came back. Mech and my employee got machine started but now the machine wouldn't budge. It would switch into FNR but it wouldn't attempt to drive forward like it would prior to disconnecting the batteries.

thoughts?

thank you very much for your input Gary.

I have a Komatsu WB93-R5 that won't start. The engine turns too slow and I can't figure out what is holding it back.
The batteries are good the starter is good.
I have checked alll fuses
It seems as if the hydraulic pump is causing this. because when i turn the starter key and touch any of the hydraulic levers I can feel a slight pull on the lever.
I dont know how or if it can be disengaged when starting.

JCB 550 transmission and steering problems

Hi hoping someone can help me out a lil, I picked up a 550 load all and I had no idea of the history all I know is that they were using it for parts for some of their other machines so I had some broken parts thrown in with it

When I got it the right front hub was broken at the track bar that keeps both front wheels turning the same direction, rear drive shaft was missing, steering shaft and wheel was torn apart and broken one laying in the cab on the floor. It's missing some various sensors and other stuff like that.

I have replaced the right hub and steering wheel shaft, since then and gotten it running. The boom functions as it should but the steering won't work I suspect the steering unit is the problem. It has 5 hoses going in and out of it, I can unhook both left and right and return line outputs only leaving pump pressure going in and the pressure return going back to the pump hooked up. if you turn the steering wheel to the left it's sorta hard to turn and nothing really happens and not much oil comes out of the open hose when you turn to the right it feels like it hits a stop, and some really foamy looking oil comes from the right port and both the oil supply line from the pump and the pressure sensing line going back to the pump get rock hard when your turning the wheel in a right direction and hit that hard spot almost seems like it wants to burst those 2 hoses and all of the other 3 hoses combines don't hardly dump enough oil to even fill a beer can when running it for over a min or so. I assume with nothing hooked up going out of the steering unit and only having pump pressure going in and out there is NOTHING electronic that could even be causing this problem, I should get a steady stream of oil from the right and left when putting those inputs in the steering wheel correct?

Also one time when messing with it after I got the hub on I was able to move it forward and backwards under it's own power unable to steer at all, the trans oil pressure light has been on and now I get nothing from the transmission not even a hint of movement from the output shaft on the trans when you put it in either forward or reverse and it is full of fluid not sure how it could move one time no problem than not the next. Backup beeper and all that works so I assume it's getting all the signals to the trans and it looks like there isn't much in the line of electronics that controls the fluid pressure from the torque converter, wondering if there is a sort of charge pump on the trans for the converter if it is built into the converter and that is where my problem is, but I sorta of rule out electrical once again since I have the trans fluid pressure light on.

I have no clue as to what was broken or how, the spindle looks like it was removed maybe off another machine and the steering shaft was for sure taken from it for a diffrent machine. The steering unit looks like it hadn't been removed just by how the hoses were still hooked up but I don't know that forsure, they were using this unit as a parts machine for their other 2 running units. I recall them having transmission problems with one of the units not sure if this was the one and they robbed steering parts off it or if the steering broke on this unit and then sitting for a couple years and pulling parts off it caused the trans problem and steering unit problems. One of the joys of getting the machine as a basket case and not having a single clue as to the history or events of stuff that happened to it.

I have alot of $ tied up in this machine and now the steering unit and trans are costly items just wondering if anyone can tell me from what I describe if I am on the right course of action or if I am missing something simple, I know the steering and transmission are both on their own pumps and steering is on with the loader functions and it has pressure for sure. Any help would be great Thanks SO much for your time.

Case 621 experts out there? I just bought a C model and hope it's not complete junk

Hi everyone, I just bought a 1999 621C it has 7700 hours and was used for logging and has some sort of log grapple on it. The pivot pins for the attachment are worn out center link has been broken and welded, Also the steering rams have play in the end bushings and pins and the upper center bushing on the center articulation is shot. Front wind shield and left side wind shield are broken along with both right and left door glasses.

I am curious if anyone can tell me what if any parts off a straight 621 will interchange? I have a buddy who has one that the trans has gone out on and been torn down for years. I know pretty much all the drive line and brakes won't interchange due to Clark vrs ZF but the pin on bucket, forks, and center link look like they will work, I also hope the glass will interchange and if I end up needing an engine I would think that that would work as well.

I know this loader has had the crap beat out of it but I got it cheap (I hope) $13,000 it has the above listed problems and a few more sorta suspected but found out for sure on the way home. It was WAY low on engine oil and hyd oil and had a new radiator installed, Hyd oil looks to be a few bad hoses, But the engine oil leak looked to be valve cover gasket, now I am pretty sure it's the head gasket since I could see oil coming from between the head and block surface once it was good and warm and the coolant got a bit hot and blew a hose I didn't know it was that hot cause the gauge didn't register one of the many draw backs to attempting to drive it home without knowing how it's going to preform.

Another issue of concern was that the trans temp shot up WAY hot and I drove it for a bit with it showing the gauge maxed out. I was only driving down the road and under no load really so I figured it couldn't be that hot and it was able to go 23 mph and no slip. I drove about 15 miles total of my planed 60 then decided I am better off getting hauled with the above issues. I hope that fluid filter and sending unit hopefully correct any trans issue. I can't see less than 5 miles of road travel causing fluid to overheat and it didn't seem that hot out of the filler hole so hopefully driving it another 10 didn't cause any damage.

I plan to use it for pushing snow and moving cars and some dirt at times in the summer. Most of the bushings are simple to replace/repair just $$$$ and the head gasket shouldn't be too bad, the engine runs good seemed to have decent power and didn't smoke or anything like that. Any suggestions or things to look for on it would be nice to know, my buddy with the 621 also has a 621B with over 20k hours on it and and he's barley done anything on it service wise unless it dosn't move anymore so I know they can take a beating. I like the auto shift option of the C model and the instruments and all that stuff are a bit nicer than the 621B and it has ride control and is air condition but I am sure all that stuff needs attention as well, I just hope I didn't over pay for a pile of junk. O and one last thing as if my grocery list isn't enough, the brakes seemed to really suck they stopped it when pushing hard but there was NO way it was going to come to an abrupt stop she just kinda slowed a bit faster when you really pushed hard.

973 transmission started blowing seals and then this happened

vendredi 30 octobre 2015

My 973 blew the o ring seal on plug of sync valve twice in a day. Disassembled valve and found 2 spools in speed valve stuck. Having to take out welch pugs to free spools, I Had to wait over a week for new plugs to fit up valve. Loader would not move at high throttle. I assumed it was air in system and after an hour of idling it worked well. Unit had normal power to bulldoze a new bench in quarry for 3 days then blew another o ring behind a test port on sync valve. I decided to change oil and filter, but suspecting the speed valve problem may have returned, pulled it off and alarmed to find the plunger in sync valve was now broken. What could bE causing such an increase in pressure to eventually cause this damage? I hope the plunger is available from CAT.
My serial# is 90L0601.
Since buying unit the transmission was overhauled and replaced busted seals in a track motor to solve drive problems. Previous owners didn't seem to have appreciated need for proper servicing.
When I figure out how to access photo library on my iPad, I will show photo of valve.

Hydraulic return hose on D7H

The hydraulic manifold hose on my D7H just went. Its the one that runs from the front manifold to the implement valve under the floor, and I am trying to take it out, I took out the cab floor pan, but it is very difficult to even reach the bolts let alone see them, that hold it in, is there a different way to get it off or just struggle with it until I get them out. It feels like I am going to need go take off the two tilt hoses in front of it to get to the main hose ends. In the shop manual it looks like you are supposed to take off the belly pans to change them, but I can't see how that would be of any help.

Timberjack 460 troubleshooting

Hello
We have a timberjack 460 with some issues that I am trying to figure out. We recently brought the machine into the shop to replace hoses and put on a new head. The machine is showing what looks like and error60 on the dash and the alternator charge light and low trans pressure light are both on as well. I know I had read somewhere about a simple problem that can cause low trans pressure but now I am not able find it online. Is there somewhere I can hook a gauge to get a true measurement? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Need guidance on whats needed to go from two to four Aux hydraulic lines

Hi experts. In new here and was hoping to get some educated advise in regards to trying to run a 3 point 6 way grading blade with my New Holland LS180 skid steer.
The Farm King 7' blade with two actuating cylinders I plan to get a heavy adaptor plate and weld a catagory II quick hitch to that.
Im going with this 3 point as it is fairly cheap at $1200. I dont want to spend a pile of $ getting the hydraulics plumbed/valved.
The blade has 4 lines @ two for each small cylinder with no type of controller on board.
I only have one set of Aux lines on my SS boom (not high flow if that matters)
From what I gather it looks like I'll need a hydraulic multiplier that will port me from my two machine lines to four going to the blade.
I also think I'll need two spool valves after the multiplier in order to get back and forth motion on the two blade cylinders.
I guess unless I get fancy or run the Hyd lines close to the seat Ill have to unseat in order to make blade adjustments.
I know they make the multipliers with Elec solinoid on/off control but I think I still would need to valve the blade cylinders in order to move them in both directions correct?

Thanks for the advice guys!

Just got the truck today at my job and the radio was working at first now it won't turn on. I can get it to work by unplugging it and plugging it back in but when the engine turns over it shuts off anybody have any suggestions. Hitachi EX270LC problem

i have an Hitachi EX270 lc which we resently replaced the two main pumps. Due to lack of pressure, which we had plenty of pressure at the beginning of the year with the same pumps. We put the two rebuilds on and started up the machine to find we could only get 3000psi at all functions and not the 5000psi that they say we should have. At the 3000psi it will pull the motor down but still doesn't have the power to lift the machine. The pilot pressure is fine. We have adjusted the pressure relief valve as Hitachi has said to and had no change as far as higher pressure. We took it out examined it and put it back in due to visually there was nothing wrong with it. Now we are stuck nobody has any info for us that changed any psi. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Winch for D4C

Hi guys,

I'm really happy I stumbled onto this forum, it looks like the go-to place for heavy equipment discussions.

Anyhow, I own a decent chunk of land (1000 acres+), mostly forested with walking/offroad trails throughout. I've been using a Deere 310 backhoe to help keep the paths open but to make life easier I picked up a D4C series iii Hystat in very good condition (only driven on Sundays to church by a little old lady). The trouble is, there is no winch on it. I won't need the winch every day but it will be used on an occasional basis for clearing paths of downed timber that is too heavy for the winch on my quad. I'm not sure I want to drop the coin to get a constant duty winch like a 30B, but I do need something, probably in the 15,000 lbs+ range. Here are my questions:

1) Have any of you hooked up an electric winch on a dozer, the battery should be strong enough but is the alternator up to the job?

2) Is there hydraulic access through the PTO door or is it strictly mechanical? I haven't taken the door off yet and can't right now (the dozer is up at the property and I'm currently home in the city). If there is hydraulic access then that gives me more choices

3) the plugs around the backside of the transmission case, are they just placekeepers in holes that are designed for mounts or are they something else?

Thanks for any information or advice!

I'm having a shifting problem with my 140-H I read earlier in someone's message that each gear in the transmission is operated by three clutch packs therefore engaged by three different solonoids. Cat 315C L- Seems sluggish when running automatic throttle

I have a 2002 CAT 315 CL that seems sluggish when running the dial on any setting. It does progressively idle up on each dial position. If I switch the manual toggle under the right arm rest to manual it seems to come alive. Tracks faster and all around seems to have more power. The serial number prefix is CFT. Is there any calibrations that need to be done that I can do myself or is it time for the CAT Tech to come look at it?

2) I am also looking for some of the hydraulic jack seals (loader, backhoe and stabilizers) after market will work .. again JCB are EXPENSIVE!!

3) Shuttle box has developed the 'Drive in reverse ONLY... forward does not work.. any suggestions?

All info will be greatly appreciated as this is going to be my 'Winter long project'!!

Oh, yes... I live in Vancouver Canada but very close to US border! :)

Thanks

Deere 240D vs. 200D- Does size matter or is bigger better in this situation??

Hello all of you once again.

We are still in the hunt for the perfect used excavator.
In past posts I had asked opinions of the good people on this site of excavators and dozers and am never let down so I thank you.

We have narrowed our choice down to: 1. Volvo 210, 2. Deere 200D, 3. Deere 240D

Honestly they are all about the same in age, hours and overall condition with the exception the 240D is a 2010 vs. 2007 for the other machines. Also the 240D is in a little better condition and has a ditching bucket.

The interesting part of this scenario is the Deere 240D is about $8K cheaper than the other two.

My questions is will this machine be too big for my needs?? Land clearing will be awesome for the larger machine but not sure about the other work such as basement excavation, some grading, etc.
Your thoughts please?

Deere 240D vs. 200D- Does size matter or is bigger better in this situation??

Komatsu pc 220lc-6

Have to hook a jumper wire direct from battery to battery relay in order to start machine.
Then the machine will not shut down with key
Have to manually turn throttle down on govenor to shut engine down. Also the throttle dial does not work in cab. Have to manually adjust on govenor. Can someone tell me what the problem may be? My thought is to replace battery relay but don't know if this will correct the issue?
Thanks

X-trac rubber track

Got a call from my operator today to tell me that one of the tracks blew on my 8 ton Kubota. It was the original track with 3100hrs on it. Only thing I could find local was x-trac. I have never heard of them before. I ended up buying them. Or I would have had to wait 3-4 days if I was to order something else.

Anyone have any experience with x-track. I hope they are decent.

AFE mulching head

Hello all. I'm new to this forum but I've already found a lot of very useful information on it! I am thinking of adding a mulcher to my lineup of attachments and as a custom fencer Central British Columbia I have got a lot of trees to deal with! I have been wondering if anyone here has run one of these AFE disc type mulchers and if so what was your thoughts on them? The size of the mulch isn't my greatest concern because it will break down fairly quick in our climate, I just want to be able to knock trees down and chew them up on right of ways and also do a bit of clearing for pastures and such. Any thoughts or input is appreciated!

E56 Articulated Dump truck Theory Questions

Hi all, brand new to the plant industry, recently just passed my Ride-On Roller test with 139/139 in the theory. I have my Articulated Dump truck test on Saturday and looking to get 100% again but I am struggling to find a few answers. So any help with these questions would save me a lot of research time and more revision time! thanks

2. If the machine is being travelled or working on the public highway, including adjacent pavements and verges, the road traffic act applies. a) what type of licence and which class should the operator hold and b) what is the minimum age?

14. An operator has been asked to transport materials from one site to another using the public highway, for which the road traffic Act applies. what effect can this have on this activity?

24. What is regarded as the most productive position for the dump truck to be in when being loaded by a wheeled loading shovel working from a stockpile?

42. If the operator has loaded the machine onto a transporter/trailer on behalf of a driver, state 3 actions that must be carried out before they leave the machine.

43. The operator has been asked to drive the machine onto a transporter/trailer a) who is responsible for the loading operations and b) state 4 actions to be considered by the operator before loading commences.

I have a good idea off the top of my head what most of the answers are but I cant find any information backing it up. I would much rather get them spot on than saying the complete wrong answer or saying PASS.

thanks again.

Craig.

Lull 844 34 tt 1986 brakes heat up ?

I just purchased my second mid 80s lull. I just got the 1986 machine delivered. BUT due some unfortunate circumstances the delivery guy couldn't make it all the way to my property. So I needed to drive it 3 miles up a mtn rd. The seller warned me that there is a factory defect in the brake design that causes the brakes to over heat and forces the machine to stop. Turns out he was right! Only made it about 1/2 mile and could hear the brakes grabbing. Turns out this system uses a drum/pumpkin design which has hydraulic lines running to it. I waited for 30 minutes tried to move the machine and the brakes were stillooking siezed.

The machine is still waiting there for me half way up the mtn in the rain. Does anyone have experience with this issue? Seller told me that they rebuilt the brakes several times to try and fix the problem.

I have a working 1984 same model that uses a different braking system.

Any insight is appreciated. Otherwise I'd going to be a long trip home. ...

BC 863 Cant find this leak!

Hi all - posted awhile back about this 863 that we repaired and it's been running fine until this MASSIVE hydraulic leak. I've spent days in this thing looking for which hose or where it's leaking from but can't locate it. It only seems to spew it out when tractor is moving. Located manual, but of course there's no diagrams for hoses. At idle nothing happening. Pulling motor is not an option. With cab up can get in there pretty good but doesn't help as it doesn't leak at idle. What are my other choices? Pull one hose at a time to inspect (assuming it's a hose)? Days into this messy thing and have got to find this leak! Any input please greatly appreciated.

loader volvo 4400 BM re-wireing solenoid valve coils

Hi, I'm new to this forum so sorry if this is not the place to post this problem.

Our loader stopped going into gear and it ended up being a whole lot of old bare wires behind the switches touching and earthing out. Replaced wires, fuse and had to remove one solenoid valve coil (we removed the one that controls the 4th gear). But now for some reason the wire that goes to the solenoid that controls reverse (brown wire) gets power no matter what gear is selected (eg. in both the forward gears and reverse gears). The wire isn't bare or touching anywhere we can find. Could this be a problem with a diode, relay or delay thingy? Or do we need that 4th Solenoid for that brown wire to turn off?

Dozer on the ground-literally

Saw this the other day while driving by a big dirt moving project. Picture is hard to see, but this fairly new J.D. 850 is literally sitting on the ground. Just before the rains last week, 2 mechanics took the ENTIRE undercarriage out from under this machine. It is sitting on the belly pans, with the blade and ripper keeping it from falling over. The sideframes and all other crawler parts are laying around the machine.
What type of repair would require taking every single piece of undercarriage off of this dozer? The drive "axles" are the only thing left and they did wrap that in plastic on each side.

Good Farm Type Excavator

Not that I need another project but have a couple things and a trackhoe would come in real handy. Should be able to get it done with what I have but just been looking around for the last year or so. As all the other equipment in my sig there all good for me because no computers. well might need to take that back with the 416C but don't think it has one. Like my 955 will not keep up with a 953 or 961, but I can fix the tranny on it if it ever went out.

So what would be a a regular good ole trackhoe to look for, and where are the weak spots with them?

Hitachi Zaxis fuel tank problems

Has anyone else had problems with the early model Hitachi Zaxis fuel tanks? They appear to have been coated with a rust inhibitor and that starts to come loose? I've had a couple of customers with this problem, the last one drained the tank, vacuumed it out clean and a couple weeks later the pickup tube is plugging up again. When they pull the line of the bottom it's plugged solid. There's a 90degree fitting and a shutoff valve and I'm thinking that's what's plugging up. Is there a screen on the pickup tube? The machine is a couple hours away, on the side of a mountain so I've not had an opportunity to take a look at it.

How do you figure?

Was talking to a guy about his construction business. He tells me he started a project excavating for a pool that was supposed to be an easy 3 day job. 2nd day in he hits rock and thinks it'll take 2-3 weeks to break up rock and finish it. How does he figure price for this? I assume he gave a quote based on what he thought would take 3 days? Does he just finish it, and take the loss because of the extra time it took to complete? I'm just curious how you guys handle situations like this in the field.. - Mike

Skyjack 7135 problems

Hi,

I'm having problems with this 2WD diesel lift. It worked fine, but now no beeping or light comes on to the upper console like it used to.
Relays make contact when moving the joystick, but only thing that does anything is the drive action (takes power from the hydraulic pump, but the lift won't move)

Checked so far:

- Battery
- Cleaned contacts
- Tested limit switches
- Outrigger control module's red led shows code 2-2 (outriggers not on ground), but I don't know if that completely disables the whole thing...

Good ideas anyone?

Secondary boom stutter z45/25j manlift

Good Morning Forum Users,

First time poster here.

I have a 2012 Z45/25J electric Man lift a secondary boom lowering problem. First off let me indicate that all other functions and controls appear to working as advertised for the man lift except the secondary boom lowering. If the speed control is set to 5 or faster, there is no apparent problem, but it could just not be as noticeable due to the speed at which the secondary boom lowers. When set to 4 or below, lowering the secondary boom causes the boom to stutter, when in the basket it feels as if you are in a shaker machine of some time. The hydraulic rams on the secondary boom are about 30 inches; during testing, I notice this problem occurs with the ram extended about 15 inches. Any lower than that; you can lower the secondary boom without incident. If you go higher than that, the secondary boom begins to stutter during lowering. If you continue the downward travel while stuttering, the stuttering stops when there is about ¼ of the ram extended. During the lowering process if it starts to stutter and there is less than 15 inches of the ram extended, you can raise the boom a little and start lowering again without incident.

Although I did not think it was the problem, I swapped a couple function solenoid valves around to see if there was any change; there was not. Since every other function on the man lift works great, I do not believe it to be a hydraulic pressure issue. I am thinking something with one of the hydraulic rams? Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Richard

Building a large berm?

mardi 27 octobre 2015

I thought I'd post this question here as there are a lot of knowledgeable contractors in this forum. An ex military guy that purchased land about 1/2 a mile from my MX track is wanting to set up a tactical shooting range to rent to law enforcement for training. I don't think it will go ahead because there are too many residences close by. It's basically in someone else's backyard. Anyway, he had planned on building a berm 10 meters high and 100 meters long on 3 sides so roughly 30' high x 900'+ long and figured about $50,000 to construct it. That seems like a low number to me and he'd need to huge hole to get that much material and then it would have to be shaped and packed. Can someone figure out how many yards/meters of material it would take and give an idea on what would be a ball park cost? Would scrapers be the machine of choice for a job like this? I don't think the guy realizes how much material it would take after the material is packed. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Tandem Dump and tag trailer to move a dozer???

I'm looking for advice on moving my equipment before I buy the wrong thing. I have an IH TD-15C dozer that weighs in at 33,000 lbs. I'd like to have a tandem axle dump truck to haul gravel etc, something like a W900A KW with a 400 cummins, and a 20-25 ton tag trailer. Would a combination like this work? Be safe? Be sensible for moving the dozer? Or should I look at a day cab road tractor and a 25-35 ton lowboy? Looking for advice on the best/safest/sensible combination. Any advice is appreciated.

WA 500 Komatsu A/c blower motor

I believe orange is hot when fan is to be on and when a/c button pushed on, the orange and red wire are both hot at the same time. But still the fan will not turn. Does anyone know if these units have a resistor somewhere. The fuses are good for the a/c blower motor and a/c compressor didnt check the rest but will check them all anyway. The pig tail for the blower motor only has two wires and they are for the orange and red hot wire when a/c on. :PointheadSo does someone know how this blower motor gets any ground since it doesn't have a ground wire at 2 wire connector plug in coming from the harness. Has anyone had this problem yet.

D5 Dead Axle Removal

I've got an old D5 96J dozer the final drive went out on. It ended up stripping the threads on the end of the dead axle so it needs replaced. Welded a nut to the end of the axle so I could put my threaded rod and hydraulic ram on it. Put a 6" diameter pipe around the axle and brought the 50 ton press up to 10,000 psi expecting it to pop out any second. No luck. An old timer mechanic told me to use something heavy suspended as a pendulum with a chain tied to the end of the axle. Swing it so that it hits the chain at the bottom of the curve acting like a slide hammer jarring the axle. Put 8000 psi back on the press and swung an old 350 block a few times. No luck. Added some more weight to get it up to around 500 lbs. Still with the press at close to 10,000 and the 500 lbs, doesn't want to budge.

Just to clarify, I did remove the big nut underneath along with the pin holding the nut in place.

Does anyone know of any tricks to get those axles out?

Add D130 hoe to Case 530

I sold my Case 1845 B skid steer the other day and bought a Case 530 tractor and front loader. My D130 backhoe didn't sell with the skidsteer though, so I still have it.
What is the possibility of mounting my D130 hoe on my 530? I can fab up a bracket, as I did for the skidsteer, so that shouldn't be a huge issue. However, I have no PTO on the tractor, and not sure if it can be added. It doesn't appear to have any power beyond port on the loader. It appears to me I would have to add a PTO and pump to run the hoe. Is this possible? Is it practical?
As far as practicality, I do not need a backhoe. It is a nice to have on occasion only. That said, it would be nice to have, only used occasionally, and only lighter duty. I don't want to have it cost a million bucks either, but if I could make it work affordabley then I would do it.
Any ideas?

Seeking advice on best machine combo for specific job.

I've got a road to repair that is up and down a mountain.

It's a mess, was never built right (411's/304's) on the surface and no wearing course in sight. AND... forget about getting a dumptruck in there until repaired.

My thinking to bulldoze it flat, put down a geo-grid from end to end to stabilize the road (which is steeper than it should be anyway) and bring in material one bucket at a time, grading it after.

As I doze it flat I will lose some spoils downhill (don't care) and some uphill that will need to be excavated back out of a swale that runs alongside the road so I can backfill it with Rip-Rap to catch the downhill water flow before it hits the road.

Obviously my plans are more involved than that, but for the purpose of this question that'll do.

I have a Tak TB135 that will be fine for mucking out the swale. It has a dozer blade on it but it's a bit small to be used for that portion.

I also have a Tractor with a front end loader and a grading device on the 3-point, but that's for later on.

Now, I could simply rent a small, but large enough dozer AND a Tracked loader of an appropriate size, with a nice big bucket to run material up the road.

It also occurred to me that perhaps I can rent a tracked loader that has a dozer style bucket and a material bucket which can be switched out. Problem is, I am not positive that I can find one that available nor that it is neccesarily the best approach in this situation.

What do you guys think...

Rent two machines, each for a specific purpose or find one (if I can) that has attachments to satisfy both needs?

Kobelco LK1150 help

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and recently acquired an early 1990s Kobelco LK1150 front end loader with a cummins turbo 6 engine. Motor runs excellent but I am nervous about a few leaks I noticed. One of which was a leak coming from the transmission bell housing area, directly from where the small opening is in the bottom of the bell housing to access the torque converter bolts. I'm not sure where the leak is coming from but any ideas will help. Any idea where i can get parts for this machine. Online searching and forum surfing isn't proving successful.

The steering pistons are weeping a bit. Is it terribly involved to repack these? Are there re-packing kits available anywhere?

Also, what kind of fluid should I use in the transmission and the hydraulic system? Does it require anything special or will UHD tractor fluid work ok?

Thanks for any input.

Borg Warner Shuttle Forward Clutch Assembly Question

In the print below, snap ring # 13 is supposed to be .090"-.093" thick.
http://ift.tt/1KDEuEI
Problem is, the lower groove in my housing is much narrower.http://ift.tt/1Mr1PRr
The snap rings I removed were .092, .084 and .052. All show where they have been firmly in place in a groove and I think I remember taking all of them out of a groove.
At the time I wasn't worried about where they came from because I figured my manual would tell me where they went but this time, that line of thought has bit me solidly on the a$$.
There's no way a .093" snap ring will fit where it's shown to be placed, the groove is far too narrow, but the .052" thick one I removed from somewhere, will fit at position #13.
Anyone have any idea what is going on?

new holland excavators questions

hello everyone

i have been reading up on the specs of some new holland excavators, and i see that the E215c is a 6 cylinder engine 6.7 liter, but the E230 is a 4 cylinder engine 5.12 liters, and so is the E260 but then theres the E245 and that has a 6 cylinder 6.7 liter engine.

I thought with higher numbers you would get a higher power output and bigger engine but it just seems like new holland just puts it any how. Can someone tell me the reason for this?

The excavator occasionally switched from slew to swing by itself in the past. Pushing the slew - swing button had no effect. We were able to get it back into slew mode only by turning the ignition off and starting the machine again. This always worked in the past but now it is permanently in swing mode and it can't be put back into slew. Anybody have any ideas about that problem?
Thanks in advance

Hough H 60

Hi Guys, I have a hough h60 I been working on most of the summer. I got everything reconditioned on and almost ready to go. I knew it needed a front shaft carrier bearing thought I would do that last. My problem lies I called the Komatsu dealer and he states he has to know if it's a h60 a to h to get me the right part.

I have no idea how to tell. I have to get it up and running. It's dedicated out for snow removal and contract been signed. The Machine has to be on premise

weight of d8 and 155

Can anybody tell me (in tons )roughly how heavy this particular machine is please?
I can only seem to find on specs the later series tractors and I'm not sure if these are just weights without ripper
Many thanks

Intek Truck/Equipment Leasing....They've been good to me.

For another equipment/truck financing option, call INTEK TRUCK/EQUIPMENT LEASING, Roseland, NJ (973) 403-7788... John Wohltman, sales rep.

I have a few things with them. The very first time I called, I got the owner, Billy Reitman on his cellphone, riding his bicycle around his town in the morning getting exercise. That's unusual, but I loved it. He said, "get me some information, pictures of the equipment, and we'll get to work on it..." That was for a used Tru Hitch detachable towing unit I was interested in a few years ago.

Next was my 2000 Kenworth W900L...same deal...info, pics, numbers...the deal was done in a week.

Next was a trailer I recently bought. Same deal...info, pics, numbers. Another smooth transaction.

Leasing (for me anyway,) is a great option. It's a lease-purchase structure with a $1.00 buyout at the end. 2 payments up front, some initial fees in the front (can't get away from them nowadays,) and you're on your way to happytown. It's a good alternative to the aggravating banker deal, and it's a good writeoff. If you don't have $1.00 at the end of the lease to buy the piece you have, I'm sure they'll finance that for you too...

If you do business with them and get financed, please PM me...they offer a $100.00 finder's fee to referral people and if you get set up with them, I get $100.00 and I'll split it with you, hahahaha. That way we both win. Just a thought.

I've been through the banker meetings/rejection process one too many times. They aren't your friend if you run a small business. I am so sick of that whole process that I tend to try and pay cash as much as possible for everything, but sometimes you need to get a little help so you don't exhaust all your reserves and throw yourself into a negative scenario. Intek has made that whole thing much easier on guys like me, and they are pleasant to deal with. A unique lender for sure.

Just a thought for people looking for a little different approach....:usa

Grizzly Trucks

Ok....its a bit of a stretch but I am pretty sure the original guys had logging in mind when these trucks were built.I have been Grizzly hunting for a few years and have found almost half of the trucks built are all on Vancouver Is.There are three of them just in Qualicum...I have found around 3/4 of them
I lived and worked in North Van when these trucks were built..I had just finished my 10 years at Pacific ..

This is truck #1 of 13 or 14 trucks..It has been on the Island for years and was owned by the widow of Geoff Buck the man behind Grizzly..She is a good friend of HDX and he hooked me up with her..

Truck has 53,000 miles on it..Engine is a Cummins 12V..

On Saturday I went to Nanaimo and purchased the truck...I will do one of my typical rebuild/refit jobs on it...

Many thanks to HDX and to Jean (the owner)
The truck is in good hands..[
