I just had my annual inspection including a NDT. Only one short hairline crack to fix and 30 ft. to cut off my load line, when I bought the crane it had a 44 ft. jib which I promptly removed, so cutting 30 ft. off should be no problem. The question is I have read or been told at some point that I am to record the new length of the load line but can't find it anywhere, ( I asked the mechanic and he didn't offer an opinion ) where do I record it, just in my daily log book or should it be added to my load charts via a label maker ?
Ps. the rest of the cable is in good shape, there was a small bend at thirty ft. that happened when a well meaning client was helping me reeving the line block just before it went for inspection ( I pointed it out to my mechanic for his opinion )
