Bladder accumulator charge pressure

lundi 22 septembre 2014

Hi guys,

Have a question regarding accummulator setup on an excavator. Basically we have a bladder type nitrogen accumulator which is to be fitted on the aux hydraulic piping of a Cat 312 excavator (on the high pressure side). We are attaching a breaker to it which will be used at least 8-10hrs a day. The operating pressure of the breaker is 175bar.

My question is should we not put the accumulator on the low pressure side of the aux piping?

What should the nitrogen precharge be for the accumulator in the first place? I have heard various numbers from 20-80bar. but I am totally confused what to do.

I understand that you need the accumulator to compensate for the pressure drop in the system when the breaker is on its upstroke, but i can't figure out where to install the accumulator and what pressure to use.

Any help and advise would be high appreciated guys as i dont wanna install it somewhere wrong and cause even more damage as i am only putting it there as our mechanic says else the pump gets damaged since we are operating the breaker non stop!

Thanks
