Carnegie Mellon Research Project: Light plants and equipment lighting troubles

lundi 21 mars 2016

Hello everyone!

We are a team of graduate students at the Integrated Innovation Institute, Carnegie Mellon University. Some of you may have engaged with us in earlier threads at: http://ift.tt/1S27YRb

Over the past few months, we have conducted multiple field interviews with contractors and equipment operators. We are presently working on an innovative product that addresses several issues with visibility during night time construction. We would appreciate if you could share your experiences/anecdotes regarding the following issues:

1. How often do you move around light plants during jobs? What kind of areas/sites are not well lit by light plants? Are there any instances when the placement of light plants are hindrance to the operation? Are there other inadequacies with light plants?

2. What are the instances/circumstances when lighting on construction equipment (excavator, dozer, loader) is used as a substitute for light plants? How often do these circumstances occur?

Please feel free to share any other relevant info on this topic as well. We look forward to hearing your response. I take this opportunity to once again thank the HE Forum community for their efforts and inputs!
