Advice needed: How to replace a worn pin on an EX200-2 boom cylinder.

Okay... First post - be gentle!

I've recently purchased an old EX200-2. It is still fully functional, however the boom cylinder moves around 2cm before 'engaging', implying that the pin and/or bush are worn well beyond tolerance.

I'm attempting to replace the bushes and pins on the boom cylinders (the pin that connects the boom to the frame). I've removed the retaining/stopper pin and managed to move the main pin around 1-inch using a pry bar. Beyond that point it appears to be stuck! I'm using a pry-bar with a 1m pipe on the end to move the pin and it moves nicely until it hits some sort of catch at the 1 inch point... I've had a second person slowly move the boom cylinder in and out while I'm hanging off the pin with no joy.

The workshop manual was not-so-helpful, with the instructions summerised in a single step: "Remove rings, stopper pins and, pin"... There don't appear to be any special tools.

Has anybody experienced this before? Advice?

Regards,

Red

Adding ride control to a Cat IT928B??

Need to get rid of the bounce when roading this machine. Tires are filled with calcium and still have to much tread to replace them with new ones (75% remaining).
Anyone ever attempted to add ride control. I would think an accumulator tank, valve w/solenoid, switch, hoses to both lift cylinders, and couplers.

Michigan 75A power steering help

Hi i just picked up a Michigan model 75a and need some help with the power steering booster, right now it acts like it connected in reverse, you turn the steering wheel and the hydraulics fight you making it nearly impossible to turn, the guy i got it from had it apart and said he wasn't sure when he reconnected the hoses to the booster control valve is they were in the right order, so first thing i try is taking them off and reversing them, but no change. so i start digging a little deeper the spring loaded sleeve with the ball joint and spool valve had a missing ball cup, replaced that cleaned and greased the sleeve and it moves freely in the housing. then i removed the control valve, nothing to special there looks like a pretty standard valve, cleaned it put it back together, but to no avail, so i get to thinking maybe when they reassembles the control valve they put it on upside down, so tear it apart rotate it but still no change, tried swapping the lines again and check the pump side as well to make sure those are connected right but nothing seems to make this thing work right.

Low brake pressure Volvo l180f 2008

I got a little problem with my loader today.
I got a message that says: Low brake pressure. I checked the pressure in the display and when i push the brake pedal down it climbs from 0 up to 75 bar.
And the acc pressure says 135 bar when there is no warning. if i push the pedal 5-6 times its start the pressure becomes under 80 bar and then the warning comes up in the display.

How do i check that the accumulators is ok?

I think thats something wrong with the charging system becouse the fan is moving slowly and the engine overheated one time today.

Anyone got any ideas?

Iveco stralis, start, stalled, won't start again

Hello

At worked today I was in a rush to move my truck. I started it , but maybe didn't give enough time for air pressure to build up. As I went to take off the truck stalled. When I tried to restart it would not start. The computer says "check engine". Diagnostics comes up with an edc error code of 10 0c 001 y

Everything else works but truck does not turn over.

It is an Iveco Stralis 430 2006.

Does anybody have any experience with these truck or similar electrical issues?

Motor Pulled on the Deere CT332, Wouldnt believe what mechanic found

I had the motor pulled on the 2008 Deere CT332. The mechanic started tearing into it today for excessive engine blow by. Keep in mind the motor never over heated, nor did the motor really ever knock. Once he got the head off Cylinder no.1 ring had gotten so hot it sealed itself to the piston and scored the walls. Cylinder No.4 was close to doing the same. He said he is trying to check on parts and aftermarket ones. His plan is to sleeve cylinders 1 and 4. and bore the rest and put new pistons, rings, and bearings in the motor.
So here is my question, he is having trouble finding parts for this Deere, especially Aftermarket. Can anyone shed some light on parts or a source to help him.

Got 2 stright trucks to move 4hrs away thinking about using 1 to tow the other.

I've seen them lift the steer axle up and set it on the frame of another truck and chain it down. Anyone got any tips on this? I would think I would need to cross the chains over the axle so it can twist some on turns. Can I just set the axle down on the frame of the other truck or should use some 4x4 cribbing under it?

We bought used 2 single axle delivery truck that we have taken the boxes off of and are take them to be turned into water trucks.

fixing a jib/extension

I was looking at a RT740 crane with a broken jib, snapped off and tore cables. What's the best/worst case scenario? I could sure use a RT crane in taking down old barns but ..not if it is going to be a bear to fix it and we've only rented so I don't have any idea of cost when a modular extension or jib breaks. Otherwise seems like a good crane, just not sure if this is a $2000 dollar repair or a 20,000 repair. Thanks for insight

Welder - quick spec advice

Hello everyone, love this forum! I am new to welding and want to get into it and take some classes and restore and rehab some old iron I have.

I am confused on some specs to look for as far as what’s needed for large equipment. If someone needed to repair Dozer blades or wheel loader buckets, what specs/ type of welder should I look for?

Also, can the welder be "toned down" to use on delicate sheet metal too? can same welder typically be used on thick plate metal and sheet metal?

I have access to 3 phase power and nice compressor as well, so I was thinking 3 phase welder.

Can you pretty much do all things you would need to with a MIG welder and plasma cutter that one might come upon in automotive, heavy equip, and antique machine repair?

I know some of these questions are lame, but I needed a place to start.

Thanks

John Deere 490 Travel issue

mercredi 29 juillet 2015

Hello everyone this is my first post and I just wanted to thank everyone ahead of time for being here and sharing the knowledge you have.

I have a late 80's early 90's JD 490 Excavator, Its just a straight 490. The computer was unhooked when I got it and the wiring was butchered. It has a travel issue after you run it for 30 minutes or so it will barely move itself around. Both tracks, all other operations function properly though. I have changed the return filter and drained all the hydraulic fluid from the tank, cleaned the strainer, No chunks of metal or brass were found in either. Is there a seal in the orbitals that could be leaking when the oil gets thin? Also I cannot find a spot to hook a test gauge to see what the pump pressure is. I guess I don't know where to start with the troubleshooting. What all did the computer do on this model? It doesn't appear to have any solenoids or anything, so was it just for running the gauges and leveling? The machine has had this problem since I got it. In all the shop manuals I have read it says that it should be 24volt system but mine is 12volt and it seems to start fine. Maybe someone has changed the starter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Can someone help me identify this axle?

I recently acquired this trailer:

Name: mnyXSW8.jpg Views: 4 Size: 59.2 KB

The trailer itself definitely looks custom made, but it's the axle that intrigues me

Name: DzVBvmT.jpg Views: 4 Size: 56.7 KB
Name: G9KQVmD.jpg Views: 4 Size: 61.5 KB
Name: 6Q8eHQ0.jpg Views: 4 Size: 50.7 KB
Name: rNtpVh8.jpg Views: 4 Size: 50.2 KB

I've seen something similar on Scammell trucks in youtube videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qGbx_wmon8, but all of those look like driven axles, while mine is a straight 4" I-beam

Would you say the axle is custom made as well? I wouldn't think so, the quality of the welding on the axle is leagues above what was done on the trailer.

Also, how would I find out the load rating for such an axle?

Thanks

Hough H 60

Hello everyone,
Just purchased Hough h60 for my snow operations, I been diagnosing a air over hydro. brake issue brakes were not working when purchased. The compressor is pumping. We ran air though and found a valve issue. We ran air though the other tank and found the master cyl and booster leaking air bad. Pretty sure going to need foot pedal. Does anyone know where I can get parts without the parts guy crying that's its a old machine and the salesmen calling me the following day about a newer one. I don't know what motor is but it is a strong IHC. I have a 1989 dresser 530 cummins and the Hough h60 appear to be similar in someways. I'm pleased with it's performance and should get small investment back quickly. Any knowledge and wisdom will be appreciated.

KX-080-4 KUBOTA Excavator

Good Afternoon,
I recently purchased a Kubota KX-080-4 (note the #4) excavator, brand spanking new. Been using it for 3 months now and from day one realized that this machine TIPS OVER upon less than normal use. Holding a 42" bucket EMPTY, the machine tips over when fully extended.
This is on a flat surface.
Machine is JUST capable of handling a 2 foot bucket (filled) at full reach over the side.
There is a hydraulic thumb and quick coupler installed on the machine.

This model KX080-4 is relatively new model.

Is anyone else aware of any stability issues with the (-4) model. We know people who own a KX-080-3 that have no problems.
Anyone own one of these that is experiencing the same problem?

Our dealer is suggested we buy counter weights. So we did, purchased extra counterweights and problem still exists. We are currently waiting for Kubota rep to contact us to discuss issue with them, we were just reaching out to see if anyone else is experiencing similar issue.

Thanks,

Tire pressures on front end loaders

Was talking to my former boss today and he mentioned that he was told by the new tire outfit the company has contracted with that we were running the wrong pressures in our tires. He was asking me where I had come up with the pressures that I had marked on the rims of the loader for example. I told him that the pressures I had been using came from either the manufacture of the tire, Bridgestone or Michelin, or right from Cat PSR man.

An example for our 980G loaders we have been running 29.5R-25 tires and on the front the pressures we used were 75 psi. This new outfit tells him he should be running 105 psi in the front. My former boss and I agreed that sounds way too high. Since I'm retired I don't have access to a copy of the Cat Performance Handbook, forgot to liberate one of those on my way out the door;)

I suggested he contact Cat and the tire companies direct, but just wonder if anyone else thinks these pressures are excessive.

I know from years back when I had Corvairs one big problem people had with them was some tire jockey putting on new tires and inflating the fronts to the pressure on the sidewall, believe 32 psi was the standard back then. Well due to the light weight of the front end that car that was twice what they should have in them. At 32 psi they were like hard rocks and offered no traction and being bias ply that did not help!

HOT Hydraulics on Bobcat S650

I have a Bobcat S650 with 1015 hrs, very nice machine. The last couple of days here have been very hot, in the 90s
I was using a rock rake and after a few hours of use, I went to take off the rake and undo the auxiliary hoses. The connections were extremely HOT!! almost too hot to touch. Yesterady I was spreading mulch for a couple of hours and when I was the buckets cylinders were very hot.
My question is - Is this normal or is something wrong with the hydraulic system?
I use standard ISO 46 Hydraulic oil in the machine.

Any help is appreciated!!

Hitachi ex200-2 pump question

mardi 28 juillet 2015

hello all , I just recently traded for a link-belt 3400 series 2 excavator , did some work for it, so I don't have much in it, basically what it weighs, none of the electronics work , not any, manual throttle cable, screwdriver on the starter to crank it , and pull the rope hanging out the side to kill the engine , going to tidy all this up when I get it back to the shop, but in the mean time it digs like its a new one , that is to say as good as I could expect a 20 year old hoe to dig. 4 or 5 hours of hard digging and it is still does a good job. That is way more that I can get out of my ex200-2, its always got some sort of an ailment, I am not a production operation you understand, but I am over fighting with the orange demon. ------THE QUESTION--------Can anyone give me some information on what do I need to do to the pump on my 200 to put it in----- SIMPLE MODE-----.

Case Fuel Filters KSS can answer?

Couple filter questions for 2007 Case 450 (maybe KSS can answer). 1. The main fuel filter is different than the one that came off. Should I use the smaller of the two o-rings that came with filter on the threaded part of the housing? 2. Does the arrow on the inline filter point towards the tank or towards the pump? I'm pretty sure it goes towards the tank but not positive. I tried to look when I removed it but fuel was going everywhere and now I'm not sure. Thanks

JLG 45HA Stuck in Low Idle

Hello,

JLG45HA after starting will not go to high idle,
when ground switch selected.

I was hoping someone could help me trouble shoot
this with the things to check first.

The machine has been sitting a lot.

I also selected platform, and pressed the foot peddle,
and it wouldn't idle up to high idle there either.

I've exhausted my trouble shooting ideas with that step.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated, thank you.

Newby looking at case 850e

New to this forum and sure seems to be a fine bunch here to help people like me understand more about the small dozer world.
I have been looking for a dozer to do work around my small farm of about 300 ac. I recently have came across a Case 850E, but don't know enough about dozers to properly evaluate them. The owner reports that he will replace the sprockets and service the machine. The sprocket on the right side of the dozer is very sharp and is obviously needing replaced, but the one on the left has not worn nearly as bad. What's up with that? There are several of the track pads/shoes that are pretty loose. Is the loose pads anything to be concerned about? Seems like a pretty easy fix with a cutting torch and new bolts, but when should the pads be replaced? The rest of the U/C seems fairly decedent and appears to have been replaced at one time.

Can anyone talk about the pro and cons of this make and model and if 15K is two much $ for this type and size dozer. Does Case still sell parts when it breaks and what about aftermarket parts? I have heard that older Case is a pretty reliable dozer. What about the torque converter, do they still make machines with that type of setup? I,m thinking this machine does not have a turbo. Is this a plus or minus for the dozer of this size? The machine seems pretty tight as far as the engine and hydraulics with everything seeming to be in working order. This machine has 7800 hrs. showing and the owner thinks it is a 1994 model and has been on his farm since about 1998. So almost a one owner machine.
Can anyone talk about the pro and cons of this make and model and if 15K is two much $ for this type and size dozer.

Not sure about the price range for a dozer of this age and # of hours. Any advice is appreciated.

Any thoughts on a Takeuchie TL220

Looking at a very low hour TL220 and was hoping someone has some experience with them. Will be using for personal use around a small farm, light brush and tree clearing, grading and the like. At 50 something hp is this machine capable for such work? Any known problems or performance issues?

Thanks for your help!

Early 70's Cat 988A or Mid 80's 550 Dresser Loader...Whats it worth and relaibility?

I'm looking for a good used loader to load chopped corn/hay silage into a TMR mixer from a packed bunker silo on a daily basis. This will be used on a sand surface and not concrete. It might get muddy on the top 6" during the spring thaw. I am looking at the following loaders right now from private owners and I need some advise on either one and which is better for reliability, parts availability, easier to operate, and cost to operate. It has to start easily in cold northern US winters. I have no experience with these model loaders as I have run IH/Dresser 515B for the last 15+ years but they only have 1.5 yard buckets.

Cat 988A - 71' or 72' model with 3308 Cat Engine?....hard to read the data plates. Hours unknown but supposedly was used to load gravel trucks in a pit for 40+ years. Have to replace the center pins and bushings, steering cylinder bushings/pins, as they are worn. Engine was rebuilt at some time but can not verify that. No blow-by on it though. It has 29.5R29 tires with 95+% tread but are 10-12 years old now. Seems like an odd-size tire. Owner says they cost $6500 today new. Has a propane heater installed. 7-yard bucket with teeth I prefer for it's capacity in light material like silage but I will have to remove the teeth from it. Owner is asking low 20's for price to recoup some cost for the tires.

85' Dresser 550 with 855 Cummins engine. Hours are unknown but runs good and no engine blow-by. Seems easy to operate. I know the 855 Cummins has more parts available almost everywhere but I am not sure about the parts for the tranny or axles on this. The 855 was rebuilt at some point but no records for that. It has a smaller bucket at 5.5 yards. New cutting edge. Used to load sand for many years from a pit. Owner is asking about $17K.

No noticeable leaks were on either of these machines and they seems to run fine. I am trying to factor in what it would cost to rebuild (tranny, engine, axles, etc...) either of these machines with my decision...which I hear can be much higher on a CAT. Any ideas which is a better choice?

Sprocket shaft bearing preload? 955L D6 undercarrage

Working on 955L D6 undercarriage. Got sprocket off to change duo cone seal that was cut to shreds by wad of wire mashed into the mangled up guard. got new guard installed. Looking at the bearing pre-load procedure and it say initial torque of 900 ft lbs. I can understand this as it sets the bearings cups and cones and makes sure everything is seated properly. it then says to final torque nut to 450 ft lbs. I don't know why but this just seems like an extreme amount of pre-load for a couple of cone type bearings to take. Is this really what it should be and why so tight?

Also before I took it apart I did notice some wiggle in the sprocket shaft. upon dis assembly the outer bearing was rather pitted and in need of replacement. looks much like rust pitting. Dose not surprise me as this machine has set for very long periods of time. When I pulled the drain plug I did not notice any metal shavings or chunks or anything on the magnet that would indicate a bearing failure. Should I take the chance and gamble that the inside bearing is OK or should I go ahead and split the case? Wish there was a way to know without pulling the case.

I really need to get this thing back to work and am darn tired of pulling parts off lol. sure need to find the point of going back together.

I've got questions

I am thinking about joining the Caterpillar team, it is something i really want to do but im alittle nervous about the process.
Is there any cat technicians out there who can tell me what the process is like? I heard you have to do an interview which is normal, but also an aptitude test and other things. I am still in school and im interested in working with Cat, so I dont really know much about the process.

also if anyone has any sites or documents they can give me so i can become familiar with Cat products that would be nice, I know a good bit but i dont like to brag so any info would be appreciated, it can also help me out with the interview.

thanks in advance. ;)

Metric hydraulic fittings? Interchangeability between DIN 3902 vs 2353

Hi everybody,

I have an old Akerman H10b. I'm pretty sure the servo circuit fittings are DIN 3902. These seem to be hard to find. DIN 2353 is much more common (and seems to be a newer spec), and from looking at fitting sketches, they seem to be dimensionally identical with each other.

Does anybody know if those 2 DIN fittings are interchangeable with each other? I searched online, and can't seem to find anything talking about interchangeability.

"Restoring" a 310D - wear and rust

Hi All,
I bought a 310D last year with about 5,500 hours on it. IT was purchased from the original owner who had it as his 'small' machine in his work fleet. The machine has a lot of rust but the engine is solid and major repairs have been completed.
Ive done the water pump, replaced the missing or clogged grease zerks (more on that later), replaced ALL the fluids and oils and started trying to stop the rust from spreading. Currently I am about the remove the seat so I can start working on the floor pan which has holes in it. I think I will have to just cut it out, put in reinforcement beams then new 1/4" thick plate.
I bought a Amulet Hoe Clamp and since that requires removing the pins to install it, I thought it was a good time to replace the back hoe bucket pins and bushings. The largest (and most expensive) pin that goes through the hydraulic ram was seized. Despite torching and hammering it I had to cut it - luckily my portable bandsaw made quick work of that. Using a stick welder and a hammer as suggest by the gurus on this board, I was able to get the old bushings out. New bushings went in easily enough after sitting overnight in the freezer and using a press from AutoZone. The new replacement pin has a grease fitting on it with individual grooves for each contact point.

Now the problem:
I have a lot of slop in the swing tower to boom pins/bushings . After lots of searching it looks like the swing tower did not come with any bushings (would have been #8 on the pic below of a 310C). So while I can replace the boom's bushings and both pins, it wouldnt help the swing tower's hole from getting more and more worn.
I understang one option is getting it line bored and welding in a bushing. But thats a lot of $$ for a farm property backhoe. Is it worth replacing the other bushings and pins or leave the whole thing as it is?

Thanks in advance!

How to ID which tilt cylinder kit: 1845C?

Hello all. I'm trying to figure out which bucket cylinder gasket kit I need. It looks like there are two different kits available. My skid is an earlier unit (serial number JAF0041049), which I believe is a 1988-1989.

Anybody have any idea which of these two kits it would be: 128725A1 or 128728A1?

Thanks,

R/T Crane - Boom cradle ?

Clark 720 OS, 20 Tonne R/T
Any of you guys using a boom cradle when you transport a R/T crane on a low bed ?
A few years ago I had an incident where I transported my R/T crane about 75 miles, 25 of which was over very rough logging road. I must add that the driver was rather "aggressive" over the rough stuff too !
Crane was chained down well enough(I thought). Boom as short as possible, as low as possible and the hook block back to the main frame. Tip of boom cross chained down.
When we got to the job site my rotary manifold and main boom cylinders were leaking quite badly (and they hadn't previously).
A $5,000 job cost me $7,000 in repairs.
Thinking back on it now, I'm thinking that the damage may have been caused by the rough roads/ aggressive driving / no boom cradle ?
What do you guys think ?
I may have another opportunity for work on a logging road bridge but I'm thinking I should maybe build myself a cradle for my boom before I step into that one.
Anyone have any pictures of shop built boom cradles for use on a low bed with an R/T crane ?

john deere 490e pump sticking

Howdy, I have a 1993 john deere 490e with a fabtek processor head on it. I recently removed the auxiliary valve body [the one that controls the fabtek head] to reseal it between the control valves. When I got it all back together, it worked fine for about 45 minutes but was still leaking oil. Then, one function started to stick the pump on when you used that function. If you shut the machine off, it would reset things for all other functions but would stick the pump on again if you used that one function in either direction. Convinced that the problem must be in that particular valve, I removed the whole valve body again. Somehow, one o ring was missing from in between the valve bodies. So, I replaced it and tried it again. No difference. Next I tried swapping pilot control lines and the problem stayed with that valve. So I disassembled the valve body for the 3rd time. This time I went through the suspect valve thoroughly. Could not find anything wrong. Thoroughly cleaned and put back together. This time, I changed position of the suspect valve body. The problem stayed with that valve body, but, now it would only stick in one direction. If you hit the opposite direction, it would unstick the pump. Hoping it would free itself up I took it back up on the hill to try it again. It worked this way for about 15 minutes, then it started to stick the pump on regardless of which function you use. Currently it is back at the shop. If you start it and don't touch anything, it is fine. As soon as you hit any function, it sticks the pump on. Now, I'm lost and have no idea where to look. I replaced the angle sensor a couple years ago. I tested voltage and have 4.4 volts at max squash. Could anyone point me in the right direction? Without some help, I'm about ready to fire up my 82000 barko log loader and eliminate this john deere from existence.

Hydraulic shutdown while operating bucket

Recently purchased a John Deere 310E for installing/repairing septic systems.

I guess the 1st question would be is how will this machine handle the workload required for this line of work?

Secondly, and most importantly, while working my bucket it shuts down all other hydraulic functions.

The valve that runs the bucket on the valve bank leaks while the bucket is in operation. Would this be enough to cause me the trouble I am having.

Thanks for any information about this.

Rotary or Flail brush cutter on Mini Excavator ?

I have a friend that just bought a used Gehl 603 mini.

He wants a flail cutter for around the farm (limited usage)

I told him I could build him a rotary cutter much like the one I made for
my skid loader pretty easily, but a flail is way to much work.

Having no one nearby that has a flail on a mini, we need opinions
(un-biased ones, not from manufacturers).

Cat 953 fuel issue

I have just purchased a 953 78y for $1000aud. This "bargain" has not been started in 3 years and has been left in the weather for that time with 10% fuel. It was running well before being parked up due to the previous owners retirement. Before attempting to start it, I topped it up to 80% fuel, emptied and cleaned the screen/ separator below the hand primer, changed out the main fuel filter and primed it by hand all the way to the injectors. The 3204 will not fire at all when cranked and I have no smoke at all from the exhaust.
The governor lever was left in the shutdown position 3 years ago and I noticed when priming by hand that it was difficult to maintain pressure even though I was getting diesel pumped through the system to the injectors. I'm desperate to get it going so I can shift her home for a good bath and makeover. Any advice is greatly appreciated guys thanks.

Hitachi ex 220 lc-3 jumpy hydraulics

The hydraulics on my hitachi ex 220 lc-3 keep shutting off. It acts like it strains and then the pump kicks off or something. It gets better after about a half hour but still kicks off whenever you try to use too much power at once. Is this really bad or could it just be some kind of valve I could change?

John Deere PowerTech 6068 hard start

Here at Rafiki Rwanda we have a 120KVA generator powered by a John Deere PowerTech 6068T. A few weeks back it began not starting properly. The Autostart would engage and the motor would start for about 1 second then stop with an indication of Underspeed. After a bit of investigation, I discovered that re-priming the fuel system would enable the motor to start. Since then I have taken apart all the fuel lines on the tank side of the filter and fixed a couple of potential air leak problems. However, the problem persists and I'm now way out of my range of experience. My latest idea involves replacing the fuel supply pump as there may be a problem with the inlet check valve.

With no test equipment or qualified diesel mechanic in sight does anyone have any ideas of what I should look at?

Thanks,
Mike

Important Functions of Biomass Briquette Machine on environment

With the continuous development of the national economy and the growth of energy demand, energy will run out some day. In the past 15 years, energy demand in the world has increased by 1.5% annually. And the energy demand will be increasing by 2% annually in next 20 years. Although fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and nature gas can still meet the demands of mankind in twenty-first century, we must try to replace fossil fuels with other energy sources. Biomass energy can ensure the continuing supply of high level energy, and biomass briquette machine will be popular.

biomass briquette machine

Biomass briquette machine can be used in the place where is rich in forestry resources and crop straws. Wood processing industry and activated carbon industry are the ideal choices. Fote biomass briquette machine can be applied to district heating, mini type boiler, household heating stove and fireplace.

Particles and exhaust gas in cities can’t be easily digested and the natural changes in climate lead to hazy weather. We can’t change weather but can reduce particle and flue gas emissions. The reasons for the increasing floating particulates are the urban population growing, industrial development and motor vehicles soaring.

What role does biomass briquette machine play in the environmental protection? Utilization of new energy is better for the environment, and biomass energy has been receiving more and more attention from government and enterprises all over the world. Fote biomass briquette machine has been exported to a number of European and American countries. Many regions and countries have worked hardly from 80’s to 90’s to protect environment. Biomass energy can replace coal totally at some degree. Biomass briquette machine is the key equipment to produce biomass fuels. Fote Heavy Machinery has adopted advanced technology and we can make sure about our quality and after-sales service.

Looking to purchase my first pintle trailer

dimanche 26 juillet 2015

We currently haul around a 9000lb skid steer and a 9000lb backhoe. No immediate plans for anything larger. We are hauling them now on a 14k gooseneck behind a pickup.

We recently bought two dump trucks one is a international 4300 26k single axle and the other is a Kenworth w900 full size ten wheeler.

I would like to get a pintle trailer to pull behind either of the dumps so we only need to take one vehicle to jobs. A 14k trailer would haul either one ok but I think what if I got a larger trailer maybe 12-15 ton that could haul both? I also have a friend who is retired but has a full size backhoe and does odd jobs from time and does not have a truck or trailer. He pays someone to haul it everytime he needs it moved and if I had a big enough trailer I could do all his hauling for him and make some side money that way.

I have a class A so I can haul whatever I just am not familiar at all with these trailers, what I might have to pay, what to look for, etc.

Boom drift down

This weekend, I did an experiment. I raised by boom up just a little and lowered the hook to be near the ground.

I did that on Friday and left.

After roughly two days, the boom/hook drifted down by about 6 inches.

The boom was retracted and there was no load, other than the 400 lb hook block.

Would you say that it is normal to drift down by about 6 inches in those circumstances?

Starter Issues It24F

Hey all,

Heres what I'm working with. Everything was running fine until the machine wouldn't cut off using the key. Went around and shut it off with the fuel solenoid. Then the machine would not start. After some helpful advice, I pulled the starter and it was burn up and still in the engaged (extended) position. So replaced the starter and the machine fires right up, but I can hear the starter is still engaged and headed for another burn out. Cut the power for the machine and the starter quit whining and then shut the engine off via the fuel solenoid.

So now if I cut the main power disconnect on, the machine tries to start up immediately. Even with the key switch disconnected. The machine will start and I can hear the starter still engaged.

Thinking there may be an issue with the fuse box now, and plan to pull that tomorrow and open up to look for internal short.

I have a wiring diagram for this machine thanks to a good fella here on this forum. Always have found the people here to be most helpful and know their stuff.

Just curious if anyone has something to add and there is something else I am missing. :Banghead

Praying for a fix so I can get back to work.

Thanks!

engine nightmare takeuchi tl130

hello guys , I'm new here. I've got a takeuchi tl130 in my shop and I need an engine or parts.
2007 model machine with a 4 valve head 4tnv98 ytbl. long story short, it was run out of oil and locked up, not enough useable parts to make a rebuild worthwhile, so started shopping for new engines or cores for parts, no luck for a solution thad made financial sense. Well the customer found guy said he had a low hour used engine on a generator that was just what we needed. ok great! he sent the money , well 2 weeks later the guy calls, his engine turns out to have a problem, but he'll rebuild it for the same price so don't worry. but it may be a week or two. now I've been a diesel tech and ag/ light industrial mechanic for over 20 years but I don't have much yanmar experience. I turned over responsibility for parts procurement to the customer. ( because he didnt want to go with a new engine.
which was about all I could come up with at the time.)
well, this guy were dealing with is online with a good record, or lack of a bad one, so we hang in there since the price was right.($3300.00) shipped . after we send him some parts and pieces of our engine , 4 months later it arrives and its a 2003 2 valve head 4tne with our 4tnv injection pump and lines on it and the injection lines bent up to hook to the different injector locaion of the 4tne. ( he said his engine came off a generator was why he needed our pump, ect.) well this whole engine is different. about only thing the same its the block crank and rods, the 4tnv we started with is a tier 2 emisions engine. the engine he sent may be just as good or better but it can work right with the wrong inj. pump on it. so now we go a mess.

he says he'll take it back since he can sell it for more then he sold it to us since its rebuilt now. I ask what about the con. rod, cam , lifter, ect. we sent him so he could get this together ? no real answer there , he says to put it in and run it , "it sounded fine when he cranked it on the pallet" when he cranked it for a second before he shipped it !

I know this whole deal sounds crazy and I am as much to blame as my customer who found this guy since I smelled a rat early on.....

sorry, now. anyone know of a salvage yard for these things I might try. need to start over here and need either the correct engine for this machine, (preferred) or the right pump and lines to make the 4tne we have complete since apparently earlier machines used this engine. or any combination ,as long as it results with this guys machine running right and not pieced together out of junk.any help would be appreciated. thanks guys !

2003 npr isuzu 4he1a1 motor timeing ?

samedi 25 juillet 2015

hey guys, we have a Isuzu 4he1a1 motor in a cab over truck, basicly it dropped a valve an we had to do an inframe, got a new head an new turbo,an performed an inframe, removed old dry liners an replaced with new ones, an when I started it up it ran an smoked like crazy, an made a noise, then it locked down, removed the head an found that the top of liner was busted off liner had fallen down into crank an busted it all up till it locked down motor, replaced liner again an piston too an reinstalled it all back an now the motor want start an run, it starts up an shuts rite back off like ya turned key off, my shut off cable is working properly an stays in the run position when it shuts off. ya have to let it sit for a min then restart it an it runs for a sec. an shuts down again. checked fuel return to make sure that there wasn't any back pressure on return side, wasn't any, I have timed the cam shaft gear to the center of the cam shaft an the machined surface of the head with the TDC mark on crank, an the injector pump is time on the small line on the pump witch is the 8degree mark with the 8 degree mark on the crank, ya have to time the pump to the crank then turn the crank to the TDC then time the cam. seems screwed up way to time it all, unlike cat an deer an other motors all time off one turn an not 2. we never removed any of the gears on rear of motor nor the injector pump so its all correct, just removed head an replaced idler gear into new head an put back on block an sit cam shaft back into . but before the liner busted an dropped I removed what I though was the fuel shut off solenoid cause we had a hard time bleeding air outta the lines an though it was bad, come to find out I think it is a hard start or cold start advance solenoid, I pulled it outta the pump an it rides on a finger inside, an to put it back into its proper place we had to remove the cover on side of pump to put the little arms back over the solenoid tip the fit back into place properly. then we started it up an then that's when it smoked like crazy an the liner busted an fell down, so ive been going in circles trying to figure out whats going on with my motor, I think my cams timed correctly, any ideas are greatly appreciated .

2005 caterpillar 430E backhoe shut-off

hey guys, my friend has a 2005 430E cat backhoe, just bought it with 6,889 hours, went to start it today after sitting for only a week, started fine first crank, went to extend hoe out at idle to grease and go over it and it shut-off, didn't stall just shut-off, went to re-crank and won't start, anyone have any idea what it could be? its getting fuel because when cranking it smokes out the stack and can smell raw fuel, just put fresh fuel in and some conditioner, check air filter that's clean, checked fuses all are good, oil is full.... are these motors mechanical fuel pump or electronic?? didn't pull side panel off to find out, ran out of time, can't be low on compression because it started fine on the first crank, only ran maybe 5 minutes then died, any help is greatly appreciated

I copied this from another post because it reflected what happen to me today.

I try to help folks, most of the time just because I like to use my equipment (none of my equipment is used for a living, all just for fun). But as stumpjumper stated, it seems this is what happens most of the time around me.

Just today I taking down some large pines and cleaning up stumps with my excavator next to a neighbor whom I have had some property line issues with (he moved survey pins), he came over and asked if I would take down some pine trees on his property that are leaning pretty good and likely to fall on his wood fence. I told I would for the cost of fuel but warned him that I will tear up the ground pretty good moving around and some limbs would break off. I also told him I dispose of the trees in my tree pile and he could throw any limbs left over over the fence and I would put them in the pile later. He agreed, so I took down 6 very large pines, spend about 3 hours of my time, fuel and wear on my excavator. I burn around 8 gal/hr so I tell him 60 bucks just to make it easy. He tells me I tore up his grass and then tells me since I do not operate equipment for a living, he did not need to pay my anything. Hmmm:mad: So, do I write it off and never help him again??? Or, give him back his trees (BTW- this is what my wife wants me to do).

How to move crane truck with 100 foot boom at construction site

I have an old P&H 440TC lattice boom crane. I need to move around on the construction site and do not want to unmount the boom every time.

I see that crawler trains always move around, so I assume this should work with a crane truck ?

What is the usual procedure for such ? The terrain has no "hills" but as most construction sides is not 100 % even everywhere, i don't want the truck to flip !

Thanks for any advice

hydraulic pump trouble

I have a 2007 tb-135 Takeuchi with 2000 hrs on it. I have only had it for 200 hrs or so.
It was traveling in a curve in high speed but tracked straight in low speed so I did a little trouble shooting and all my pump pressures were correct .
then it seemed to loose a lot of power on the bucket curl.
I could lift the machine with no problem with the boom, then I changed pump 1 hose with pump 2 then it would not lift the machine. In my thought process it seems the pump is bad and is causing both issues. If so how do I flush system out to assure that I don't ruin new pump with debris ?

JD 450 E front idler ?

I thought I had the track tension just right, but after an hours time it seemed a little too tight. So when I let some grease out the idler slamed back about
3 inches. Now for the life of us we can't budge it forward. I have a ratchet binder on the track to the blade so I can stick my finger between the idler and
track (the front) we have taken off the side plates, on the porkchop, we have two port a powers plus using the track piston NO GO. What in hells wrong
here?? Its clean power washed. In other words it moved last week with grease but now it won't budge cause its collapsed cause I let too much grease out.
And I been working on dozers big ones for 45 yrs and never seen this before. two port a powers binders grease wackin the idler with BFH no move???
guess I'm a venting so I posted this.....too bad theres no way to wrap a chain around the idler & my TD20 will move it or smash it...I'll get a pic today

Cat 311B wont start

I have a 2000 Cat 311b excavator.
When I turn the key on, the dash lights come on and the normal beep sounds.
When I turn it one more notch to crank it, nothing happens. It is as if I have not disengaged the safety lever/arm that when in operating position will not permit cranking.
This safety switch does seem to be making contact correctly (but I have not omh'ed it out)
I've checked all fuses, including the big ones near batter box (60 amp). There appear to be no problems with them

Anyone ran into this problem or have any tips?

Thanks in advance,
Respectfully

YCC LTM 1400 Reeving 11 block - Need HELP

First time crane owner of YCC LTM 1400 and need reeving help as the instructions are vague for a first timer. Specifically, on the initial thread routing for the 11 pulley hook/block. My questions are when looking at the crane from the front:

1. At the top 3 pulleys do you use the far left or far right pulley?
2. Then does it pass over or under the silver bar at middle set of 11 pulleys?
3. If over, at the hook does the initial routing wrap around the pulley from front to back or back to front?
4. If under, what middle pulley does it use for routing far left, far right or other?

Thanks in advance.

YCC LTM 1400 Reeving 11 block - Need HELP

Ever feel sorry for someone and help them for free?

We are selling off some caliche from a pond we are digging. Selling it cheap because we need it gone. Basically just enough to cover hauling it. A guy calls today and needs two dump truck loads (14 yds each) to put on his dirt driveway because when it rains it gets so muddy they can't get their cars out to get to work or anything. Keep in mind it is borderline desert here with 15-20" rain a year but it is unusually wet this year and we have had over 15" in the last three months.

Anyway I go dump the first load and it is a small older run down house and head to get the second one. Never really thought much about it figured they had a tractor or something to spread it out. When I get back with the second load the guy and his wife are out there spreading it out with shovels. I dumped it and they paid me with a random assortment of bills and coins and said it was all they had but they had to have the caliche so they could get their cars in and out to go to work. I headed home and the whole way back I couldn't stop thinking about how hard it would be and how long it would take to spread out 28 yards on a 200' long driveway with two people and shovels.

I got home and loaded up the skid steer and went back and spread it for them for free. They were very thankful. Took me a couple hours but really made me feel good.

Case 580 Super K main breaker/fuse

Having some difficulty locating the main breaker/fuses. There is an accessory fusebox below the instrument cluster on the right side, in the cab. But these fuses are all 10-20 amps, and according to the manual are for accessories.

The starter died and I replaced it. It started first time turning over, no problem. I operated the unit for a little while then parked it. Thought I should restart it at least once in order to confirm the starter was operating ok. Second time starting I heard something near the end of the cycle. Not sure what it was, I turned the engine off, and attempted a 3rd start. At this point no lights to the dash when I turned the ignition switch. So no power, and nothing turns over (it is in neutral).

Tested battery and power at starter, 12.9vdc. Took the starter off and bench tested it, works. Noticed the hot wire that is loomed with the wire that goes to the starter solenoid was damaged (the heat shrink around the connector was melted, some wires were damaged, but there was still lots of wiring going into the round terminal).

At this point attempting to trace wires back to panel and find the main breaker. According to the manual the main fuse box should be located on the right side of the engine. But there is no fuse box in this area. A friend of mine indicated he had worked on one years ago and it was a breaker box hidden behind a small panel. I'm waiting for daylight to continue my search.

Question: Does anyone know where the elusive main breaker/fuse box is located? And once I check the fuse box, is it possible the ignition switch could be the culprit? I was going to take the switch apart too and test that with the multimeter.

Mystery Poclain

Hi there...we recently bought a poclain excavator, I know it's old just not sure how old. If someone could narrow it down a bit or tell me where the serial or model number are located, it may help. A brief description, 913 deutz, double lift cylinders on main, three section motor cover, two lift from back, front lifts cross whole body. They lift from the top. The poclain logo is indented in rear weight. It's quite square in appearance. Action is thru linkage, only thing I can see electrical is the lights and ignition. Was Poclain colours but has been painted yellow. Some leaks need attention, hope someone has some idea what model I tell the parts person. Thanks!

Grove AMZ66XT repair manual to disassemble manlift

I have an AMZ66XT manlift, built in 1998. It has a nipple in the bottom bearing support (I guess) that is cracked and continuously leaks copious amounts of hydraulic fluid. It appears it will take a total disassembly to get to the part to allow it to be welded (hopefully) up. I could sure use a repair or parts manual to help me to get this job done. SN 45921. If you have anything available, please let me know what the cost will be.

Slipping boom brake on P&H TC440

I bought an old P&H TC 440. I fixed up everything and it basically run incl operating the boom up and down.

A few days ago when lowering the boom it started to run down and before I could do anything the emergency pawl system abruptly stopped it.

There was no load on the boom and just one extension attached (i.e. 20 foot base, 30 foot extension and 20 foot tip).

I was reading in another post (http://ift.tt/1CZj8Vw) that on some cranes this might happen in wet conditions. That is exactly what mine was, it was after heavy rain and I saw that on the brake drum it was wet and greasy. Also I check the spring AFTER the incident, and stupid me, yes it as at 13.2 cm not the factory length of 11.8 which I adjusted now.

Boom and cables look fine and I can put the boom up BUT The wormshaft got damaged and is slightly wobbling now. After adjusting the spring to factory settings I VERY CAREFULLY tried to lower the boom which worked for a short time but than stopped. Reason is that with the wobbling the teeth hang on the emergency break pawl.

So well I have to replace the wormshaft. Now how to best do this ? I assume I would at first remove the emergency brake pawl and carefully lower the boom. Can the wormshaft be removed without taking apart the whole upper crane part ?

Did anybody do this yet and does anybody have an idea where to get a new (or used) wormshaft ?

Anything else I should obey/do after such an incident ?

Genie 1992 Z-45/22 Stalls on Hydraulic Functions

I recently purchased a 1992 Genie Z-45/22 IC (2WD) Articulated Boom Lift (serial number 000626). It has a Ford dual fuel engine which I am running on propane. I've spent the past couple of months getting everything working properly and have found lots of useful information on this site. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction with my current issue. This machine is a "classic" so it has no computers, it is totally "old school" electronics.

The problem I'm having is that the motor will stall when I'm trying to use various hydraulic functions in "turtle" (low idle) mode. Things are fine if I keep the idle speed high (rabbit), but the manual implies that the hydraulic functions should work (and many do) in the low idle mode. For example. if I lift the main boom the engine does not (usually) stall, however lifting the secondary "Z" boom almost immediately stalls the engine. Operating the platform tilt adjustment will also stall the motor, but the platform rotate adjustment usually does not. (FYI - I just rebuilt the tilt slave cylinder so I now the hydraulic functions are working as they should.)

I've hooked up a tachometer to the engine and it shows me 1400 rpm at low idle (manual calls for 1200 rpm) and 2150 rpm at high idle (same as manual).

I suspect it has something to do with either adjustment to the hp limiter/engine governor setup, but I'm not 100% sure. When high idle is engaged the governor actuator throttles up the engine. However, when a load is placed on the hydraulic system in low idle mode (e.g., raise secondary boom) the engine's RPM drops off and the engine dies. The governor actuator does nothing to stop this. It seems to me that the governor would throttle up the engine to maintain the correct RPM under load, but the manual does not explicitly state this.

Can anyone tell me if my assumption is correct and that the governor is supposed to do more than just engage high idle speed? If so, what should I be looking at to diagnose this issue? If not, where else should I be looking?

FYI -- I've checked and adjusted the voltage on the hp limiter per the service manual. With the boom stowed and the foot pedal pressed in to activate high idle mode, I set the "A" potentiometer (max voltage stowed) to 8.0V (2WD spec). Then in low idle mode I set the "C" pot (reaction rate) to 0.01 to 0.03 V. Initially I found that the "A" pot was set a little low and the "C" pot was very high (read about 1.5V instead of 0.03V). I have not bothered with the "B" pot yet.

The reaction time on high idle engaging seems a little delayed (it's not like putting my foot on the gas in the truck) - also the delay seems pretty variable. With a meter hooked up to the 2 and 10 terminals, when I press the foot pedal, I see the voltage ramp up to about 10V and then bounce around 8V until it stabilizes. It does not ramp up in a consistent fashion from one time to the next. Sometimes the voltage will quickly rise, other times it seems to hang about at or close to zero and then lazily rises to 8V+. I've check the foot pedal and it's wiring appears to function properly (solid on/off circuit when pedal is depressed/released).

Sorry if I've written a novel here. I figured the more info the better.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Regards,

Michael

Cat D6C Won't Move

I have a D6C 10K series that will not move and has a noise coming from behind the engine. It cranks up and runs great, but the noise is around the torque converter area. How hard is it to pull the converter out on this? What can I do to make sure it is the converter it self, before pulling? I'd like to get this fixed and not just let it sit and rust away.

Looking for a low hour machine, but which one?

Budget: Up to $30,000

Needs: Mostly light to medium duty grading and removing small trees (under 4" dia. pine trees) and brush. I am looking for a non track machine because I want a machine with lower maintenance. I will be using on flat sandy land with occasional standing water. A little better ground clearance is important and I want enough power for the occasional heavier workload.

Research so far has me looking at the Case SR220, New Holland L220 and Takeuchi wheel models. I really like those because it looks like the visibility would be good.

I live near the Florida Everglades and am concerned about machines with a lot of bells and whistles (electronics) because of the very high humidity we have here but will need a good air conditioner!

Would really like to get some input on machines I should be looking at or preferably the exact machine I should get.

As always, thanks for your help.

Steve

JLG 600A dual fuel problems

We purchased a JLG 600A boom lift about 6 months ago and have had a lot of problems with the dual fuel system. It runs fine on propane but when you try to run it on gasoline you have to hold the throttle arm 1/2 way open and it runs very rough and smokes terribly like its running way too rich. If you let go of the throttle arm it dies immediately. Parts replaced include fuel lines, fuel pump, fuel filters, carbureator, and fuel pump relay. We have even tried running it on non-ethanol fuel. Also when you try to start it on gasoline it will surge continuously like it cant find the correct idle position. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

140 M do you turn off isolator daily?

Hi all , after a long time looking at different brands and second hand machines, I've finally taken delivery of our new 140 M , I'm really looking forward to the different way of operating a grader. Have not driven it much yet because the first day it turned up I was trimming under string for kerb, then came top coarse between a 6 meter invert to invert road , and with all the rain have not got on to trimming yet. For this reason I've stayed with my komatsu 555-3 . I've put 23 hours over about a 4 week period, but when I went to do another job yesterday , jumped in turned the key then nothing. Everything on the dash went out. Rang cat at 11.30 am , the phone lines where full at the closest yard so it got transferred another place some 200 Klms south, it was a weird call as my first words to the service guy was that my grader won't start I think it flat batteries. After a dead pause he said and how's that his problem,to which I said considering it's got 20 hrs on the clock I think it is your problem. Anyway a great effort by cat as by 4.30 the auto sparky was driving out the gate job done, new batteries the old ones did not test out. But he did test for any draw and I can't remember what unit he was looking at volts, amps or even what decimal point it was but it was a draw of 2.37. He then started pulling fuses and found 7 of them drawing current that was all to do with E C M ? He did advise to turn the isolator every night to stop this but with good batteries in it, and daily use it should be OK
So what does everyone else do?
This grader is a lot bigger than the old one the 14 ft blade looks huge compared to the 12 ft blade especially when you got only 2.7 m from lip to crown and the 9 m cult-de-sac the there's not much room in it . Hopefully in time it will feel like the old one.

John Deere 2554 final drive problems?

Good morning all, this is my first post after reading through many many pages of great info and pics.

My problem is that my 2554 feels like it "ratchets" one track, usually only in reverse and worse if on steep ground. It feels as though the track catches on something and then releases. I've checked over the rails and see no sign of the u/c hanging up on anything, anyone have any thoughts?

Up In Flames

Today I made a stupid mistake that most of us have got away with many times but today it caught up with me. The hydraulic pump on my slasher failed a couple weeks ago and after getting back from a motorcycle vacation, I got to replacing it today. Normally I would have drove it home and pressure washed it, working where I got all my shop tools, but with the pump out I could not raise the outriggers or properly stow the boom for travel. The pump mounts on 4-3/4" bolds for allignment purposes. Being the pump was slightly different I had to cut off two of the bolts to reposition them. About 10 seconds into cutting the weld with a cut off wheel my neighbor whom was helping me by running the skid steer yelled that the grass caught fire under the machine. I was standing in the skid steer bucket as the pump is 8' off the ground at the edge of the machine. By the time Ted backed up and lowered me it was to late. The lower machine had flames licking everywhere. It didn't help that the blown pump had sprayed some hydraulic oil around. I quickly determined that it would be foolish to try to get the fire extinguisher out of the upper cab. Equally foolish two newly aquired large fire estinguishers sat in the garage at home. I jumped on the skid steer and threw sand around it as well as I could to stop the fire from turning into a forrest fire. I was between a partial cut up wood pile and a tree length log pile which partially burned also. The old machine probably doesn't owe me a dime after using it for 18 years in my hobby logging but it is irreplaceable from a historic perspective. It was the first large log loader Prentice ever built. The only 4 outrigger loader they ever built that the front outriggers had to be slid under the truck in front of the axles and then stood up. Ironically 1 of the 3 firemen on the volunteer fire deptment that responded lived accross the road, and another with in a half mile of where I was but they had to travel 7 miles to the fire station to get their gear and the pumper truck. They both ran out of their house when they got the call on their pagers and could see the fire.
Here's the result.
