Metal Shaving in Gear Oil in Mustang MTL25

samedi 31 janvier 2015

Changed my gear oil in the Travel Motors today on my 2006 Mustang MTL25 today. The passenger side didn't have any metal shavings in it but the driver side had a little. The machine tracks straight and has never gave me any fits just changing the oil for regular maintenance. I was wondering if this is normal to have some metal shavings, they were very very fine, no big chunks. Should I be worried and replace the travel motor to prevent the other one from failing.

Kubota replacement front bucket

Hello Everyone,

I am helping a friend with his Kubota LB400-A. He wants to replace the front bucket on his machine. He can't find the part number and he doesn't want to go thru the local dealer because of the cost. He is trying to find an alternative, maybe a different brand bucket assembly that will fit.

Does anyone have any suggestions for him

Thank you for any and all suggestions made.....

1996 963b track loader blew trans hose replaced and not have no bucket function at al

I had a hose wear and leak it was the transmision I assume as when I noticed the leak the Hydrostatic oil was low. on the drivers side below the floor there is a bell housing that the HS filters are in, behind it at the base there is a 1 inch or bigger hose that goes to the back of the passenger side left just below the fuel pump its a pump the size of an old car starter. I had to jack the cab up to replace it and when finished I started it I had no bucket controls at all nothing. I thought the bucket ran on a seperate system? as the oil tank is in the front or I may have pinched a hose when I let the cab down but they are very neatly run and the cab tilted to front and it does not look like I did pinch it. My question is could I have some how lost the prime when I replaced the hose maybe the controls run on hydrostatic and there is air and it needs to bleed the air out. My thought is the controls for the bucket may run of the trans oil maybe?? help

Looking for ROCKWELL TRANSFER CASE experts

I have a tractor called a M R S Mississippi Road Service--it is a 1965 with a 4-71 and 5 speed Spicer with a Rockwell transfer case. This case is a 2 speed--hi low and a front shaft that runs the front 4x4.

QUESTION I am trying to find what heavy duty truck used this EXACT transfer case. This is a component tractor made with parts that were out there at the time of build.

I have GOOGLED and called those big truck repair places all over the country. M R S has been out of business MANY years and the company that bought them out has NO idea about the tractor.

Maybe off of heavy duty Military trucks of the 60's , but not sure

1998 Cat D5C Hystat Groaning Noise while Turning

Still fairly new to operating this machine- 1998 D5C with 3600 hrs. Is a groaning noise typical or common to these while turning ?- Hystat seems to function fine and fairly quiet in forward and reverse, but really starts to groan loud when making hard left/right turns. Hyd oil is fresh, level is good- I see some slight bubbling when looking into the Hyd tank. There is some wetness of hyd oil underneath the hystat pumps and hoses, but I can't find an obvious leak. I cleaned/washed off the underside to get rid of previous Hyd oil seepage- let it dry off- and now I see seepage again after running it again for a short time.

Case 1840 questions - chain oil plug and fuel filter locations

Hello,

I am brand new to skid steers and really any heavy equipment. We are in the Texas hill country and building a house and clearing our land. It's basically infested with mountain cedar (juniper). I saw a Case 1840 on craigslist from the local Asco dealer. I've been watching for skidsteers awhile and haven't seen anything close to what I could afford. They say it is a 2000 with 2500 hours. Anyway, went and drove it, with some advice did what I could to test it, and bought it. No leaks, no smoke, a little visually rough but not bad at all. So far it is running great and I'm yanking out or pushing over cedar no problem. Unfortunately I noticed the hour meter is stuck so who knows how many hours really are on it.

It had no owner's manual so I bought one on ebay. I don't know what year its for, but it seems some things are not where indicated. For example the chain oil plugs to check the oil level are shown between the tires toward the bottom. Mine has no such plug. And I cannot find the fuel filters. The owner's manual just shows a picture of them and instructions to service but doesn't indicate where actually they are. I can't see them anywhere. The manual doesn't indicate you have to remove the ROPS to get to them, but maybe? I have tried many hours to find better documentation or videos of my particular unit to find these two things but am coming up short.

Anybody with one of these have any thoughts? thanks!

CAT 416B Issues

Have a CAT 416B (SN:8SG00445) that the block heater quit working on. It's under the manifold so I am guessing it has to come off to replace it? Or is there a way to get it out without removing the manifold?

Also, the front lights don't work. It blows the fuse when the switch is flipped. I assume its a dead short to the chassis somewhere. Where does the wire run for the front lights? Up in the roof, or under the machine?

D4D hydraulic cylinder on ripper

I have to put new seals in the hydraulic cylinder on my D4D. I spoke to the girl at the parts dept of the Cat dealer last week and she was not real helpfull finding the parts I need. The S/N of the machine was of no use to her even though the machine was originally delivered with the Cat ripper on it. She wants a number for the cylinder. I have wiped as much grime from it as I can but can't find any number. I did find two metal tags wrapped around the pipe on it and they have numbers punched into them. One has 2222 on it and the other has what I think is a 6 then a gap to 138-76. Would these numbers mean anything to identify the cylinder? I think maybe the 76 represents 1976 which is around the year I believe the machine was built.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to pull down the cylinder until I have the parts to rebuild it.

ASV SR80 2006 model - several questions

vendredi 30 janvier 2015

Hi

Fairly new to CTL/MTL and hoping you guys can give me some direction.

Just started using hydraulic attachment - it's a stump grapple. when using the rolling button the grapple moves up easily but it doesn't stay up there - once I move or tilt the bucket the grapple closes. am I missing a step or is there a problem with the machine or attachment? attachment is brand new.

Next question, I seem to stall the machine - I'm sure that's a safety issue when I get too deep or into a hard root but it happens fast and often. The machine seems to run just fine - am I just in a learning curve with this? It's not like I push & push then it stalls, it really happens pretty quickly and without any warning.

The bucket positioning button isn't explained in the manual - is that the leveling option for lifting or lowering the bucket or something different?

I'm going to ask in another thread but I'm hoping to find a mobile mechanic in NC (not far from Charlotte) to do maintenance or handle other issues on this machine if anyone has a recommendation.

Thanks for any help.

Cummins N14 engine; good engine, or not???

Looking at buying one or two older truck tractors to use for pulling end dump trailers. One is a 98 Kenworth, with N14-370E Cummins and 10 speed. The other is a 2000 International with an N14-370E and 10 speed.

I always liked the old big cam Cummins, but know nothing about these N14 engines. Are they durable and long lasting, or low mileage throwaways.

Both trucks were used to haul freight over the road in a previous life, then used by farmers/ranchers last. Both look clean and well maintained. The engines have me concerned though.

Thanks

theft deterent?

I've been noticing a few people on craigslist posting about stolen equipment. It got me thinking, because I was parking my machine on busier street. Now, I've moved it to the back of the site, out of visibility.

I have a 12k lb Komatsu excavator, and it seems that all Komatsu keys are the same, so, clearly that is not very secure.

I wanted to throw it out to see what others are doing. I was thinking to lock the hydraulic engagement lever to the up position, but someone could cut (or freeze/brake) through the chain. Another thought was to throw a cheap phone inside, which has GPS tracking.

Any other ideas?

tb125 questions - what's normal?

jeudi 29 janvier 2015

recently bought an 04 takeuchi tb125 with 3300 hrs on it. I'm not terribly familiar with mini x's in general, but I was hoping someone could weigh in on what's normal operation for one of these. a couple things I notice - when in high speed travel mode it doesn't have enough power to turn. it can turn slightly by slowing one track momentarily during travel, but this is just enough to nudge it a bit. normal? sometimes it seems like it barely has enough power to turn even in slow mode, other times it seems to have plenty. it will always spin the tracks if I try to push too much dirt with the blade. also, the engine starts up first turn every time and sounds great, but it hazes smoke now and then when under load. doesn't seem to use oil much if at all. is that to be expected with 3300 hours on it? as far as digging goes I'm plenty happy, seems like it has enough power to pull itself over in nearly any position.

kobelco sk 130-8 main pump failure

Dear members,

I recently had issues with kobelco sk 130 - 8

the unit main pump tends to fail badly ,the piston shoes were lifted, causing major damage to the related components, this happened repetitively in a series of short period up to 4 times, the control valve had been checked for any anomaly or failure ,visually there wasn't any serious issue from it ,only one spool that had unsmooth stroke, but with a little fine abrasive paper it was gone, the main pump case pressure had also been monitored using pressure gauge,it indicated a normal value.

When disassembled the visual damage seen was in the cyinder and pistons, the pistons jammed in the bore and the shoes was lifted

Do anyone know what issues i am encountering?hope you all can help solving it,thanks

In the market for new excavator

I'm new here and I'm looking for opinions from operators that have ran an excavator the size a Deere or Case 135. As far as dealerships are concerned we have a deere, case, and cat dealer. I am looking to buy a used machine and this will be our first. It will be used primarily as a on farm machine, for cleaning up fence rows and clearing small plots of land. Any advice that y'all can give would be great. The reason we are looking at one this size is because it will be a little easier to move I think. Any advice will be useful.

Warm Weather

Here is a story from the 1975 Alaska pipeline days. I was mechanicing and welding at a place called Tonsina. it is an extremely cold spot about 40 miles south of Glennallen. It was amazing how much iron was there. A D8-46A had broken down and was waiting for parts. In the meantime other machines were breaking down and needing parts so this one was getting picked to the bone.

A few months later it warmed up above freezing and it turned out the Cat was sitting in muskeg. It started to sink. Within a few days it had gone from having the rollers stuck in the muck to being up over the tracks and to the floor board. Management put 3-4 mechanics on it to try and make it run before it went under. In the meantime, it was sinking so fast that they hauled in two D9's that got latched up to the ripper and a 14 blade for more tug and it got popped out. It was a close one and more so, I am glad that I got to watch instead of being assigned to the project.

In the end it got winched onto a lowboy and taken to the shop.

cat 330b functions on its own.

Hi

I have a cat 330b excavator that when the stick is operated in either direction, it carries on going until the full lock position even if the Controls are left alone. If the controls are then pushed in the opposite direction the function still carries on in that same original direction. The machine then has to be shut down and restarted. This occurs in both stick in and stick out. This happens after a few hours for about 10 min then rectifies itself for a few more hours.

Thanks for any help.

Problem with scissor lift mechanism?

I own a 5 year old scissor lift drive which I bought from Pentalift Equipment Co.in Guelph. It works well most of the time, but occasionally it seems to get stuck in the middle of lifting. It doesn't happen often, but I am worried if it will start to happen more frequently. What can be the issue? Is there something we can do to troubleshoot it ourselves? Or should we contact the repair guys at the company? We can’t afford it being not available for too long, so would prefer if we can solve it ourselves. Any suggestions?

Thumb only goes one way

mercredi 28 janvier 2015

In have an old Deere 70d machinE

Has tons of power in all functions. It has a thumb added by the previous owner operated by a toggle switch. It used to work fast now its very slow to open but closes fast and hard it has no loss of power. Now to close it I either have to rotate the cab while toggling then open function or curl the bucket. When I curl the bucket and operate the thumb to open it will open as far as the bucket will go and drop some.

Could it be the ram? The reason I ask is the thumb ram pins are really sloppy. But it still has full holding power. The relay or whatever that controls the thumb is mounted on the outet pump. The brand eacapes me. Blue writing on a metal tag and what appears to be a small 3 by 5 inch cannister filter connected to it as well.

work light wiring catastrophe. Help needed!

I got a notion to install some new work lights on my D4D. Bought some JW Speaker LED work lights, ran power to a 5 switch panel box which I mounted under the roof to the ROPS canopy. I ran the power and ground wire to the left side battery. All went well UNTIL I turned on the battery switch under the seat and smoke started boiling out of my new switch box. Like a dummy, I failed to install a fuse into the power line. It got so hot, so fast, that it burned the wire off of the negative side of the battery. What in the heck did I do wrong???? Do I have my wires installed wrong on the battery? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

diff lock on 580sk

I've read that some 580sk came with diff lock and others didnt. Also some just had the pedal removed. Where should I be looking for my pedal location and then the actuating arm? What would it take to hook it up if none of the parts are there. Ive had to use the hoe many times to pull the tractor out and it's always been the rr getting buried. I plan to get some new back rubber in the future, but missing havin diff lock like I did on my little kubota. So im sure diff lock will help even with the old tires. If I still have issues when I have new back diggers and diff lock then I'll probably look into rear chains.

Tandem dumps in YOUR state?

I know tandem dumps are popular in Georgia because they don't give credit for lift axles, but there are almost none in SC.

The SC DOT has hundreds of them, but I don't know why. They have no triaxle dumps, all their material is hauled 15 tons at a time. In SC, (off the interstates), a 3 axle truck can weigh 50,000 lbs, but, if you add a lift axle you get 74,000lbs. So, obviously almost everybody runs triaxles.

So, I'm curious, does anybody around your area use tandems, except maybe a few guys who work in real tight areas?

case 1835 starter wire red hot, slow cranking

Can anybody help? I bought a case 1835 on CL and the wiring is all messed up, I ordered repair book on ebay, waiting on it to arrive.

Machine worked fine for a day ,but not won't start. Cranking the starter results in the starter wire getting red hot and actually burning.

I took off the starter, tested it, works great, solenoid, starter spins and no issues with wires getting hot.

Mount it back on the machine, and same thing, it cranks very very slow, even though connected to running car battery, so it's not lacking amps.

Almost immediately the red thick wire gets hot, turns red and catches fire.

The wire is very thick too.

What can be causing this? I was told to check if there is a hydraulic release valve, maybe motor is too hard to turn? I'm able to turn the flywheel with my hands, barely.

Other suggestions I got is bad starter, which shorts out under stress? Again, I took it out and tested it over and over, solenoid and starter work great.

I disconnected all electronics to rule out any shorts, connected battery wire to solenoid and battery negative to starter case bracket, in order to take any faulty electronics which might be shorting, out of the loop. Still same issue!! Can anybody help? I'm at the end of the road and ready to junk yard this thing.

NT855C Fuel in the oil

Greetings, this engine has been getting about one gallon of fuel in the crankcase every 20 operating hours. I replaced the injector O rings today but the ones I took off looked like new condition, makes me doubt that was the problem. Does anyone have a recommendation on anything else I may check? Thanks...

Dead controls on MM55sr

Hello everybody,

I have an old MM55sr and parked it a couple of months ago and when I went to do some work the controls are dead. I dropped the console and no action. I had stretched out the machine a bit more than usual extending the boom and bucket. A HD mech friend told me to tap the pressure relief under the floor boards and I had movement on controls for couple of minutes. Then I reset console up and down and movement again. I checked interlock micro switch in console and it tests out OK. Tapped pressure relief a couple more times and got movement but only for a minute Tracks and blade are always good, but no control in either joystick when dead. Pulled out the pressure relief valve and all looks good and spring seems right. Movement again in joysticks when valve back in. Lasted only a minute or two.

Flashing CPU light as always since I bought it but it always had worked controls before. Would be interested to hear from others. What next?

Thanks from farmerboy

HM-400 Crankshaft wander

I have a Komatsu site truck that I have been chasing an engine problem. I finally found it to be excessive crankshaft end play. Over .250. This is causing a clearance issue with the Ne sensor for eng RPM. I am wondering if anyone else has had thrust bearing failure with Komatsu SAA6d-140E engines or any others. I have not torn it down yet. A thrust failure does not make sense to me because there is no pressure against it. No clutch.

Genie s-40 starts then stalls

I have a 1999 Genie s-40 425lrg [2.5 ] EFI motor, The last user put diesel fuel in the gas tank, about a 50/50 mix . I drained the gas tank and installed a new fuel filter and after a dozen tries it started. It smoked a little and I ran it at high speed and at idle for 5-6 minutes and then I shut it off. I replaced a leaking valve cover gasket and installed a new set of plugs while I had it apart, also oil and filter change and changed out the hyd. filter element.I tried to start it after that work and it would start up and run 2-3 seconds then shut right off . I replaced the MAF sensor and it would not even fire , put old sensor back on it and it would run 2-3 sec. and shut back off. I checked the relays , they are o.k.

I am not getting any codes from the machine. Any ideas ?

Help choosing equipment

Hi everyone, first post, hopefully one of many.

I have a 35 acre farm the I want to develop in Ghana, West Africa. With a view to progressing into large scale export orientated production later. I have some money coming in shortly which will enable me to purchase some equipment to drive expansion. I have gathered a lot of information on the best combination of equipment to purchase and at what stages of my business development. However, too much information often leads to confusion and I wanted to ask experienced people on how best to proceed.

The background is this. One, i live in Ghana but have base in London and people that can arrange parts etc for me. Two, my immediate need is to clear 25 acres of semi-deciduous forest and construct a dam which will require removal of 4000 m3 of sandy loam to sandy clay soil, effectively dam a stream and ploughing the land. Three, I am building for the future and purchasing for the long term; i have used contractors here before for dam building, clearing and ploughing land and i am fed up of their unproffesionalism...I am in a developing country, do it yourself is the best way. Four, we have a long established Cat dealer, recently established Volvo/SDLG dealer as well as Sany and Liugong. There are also a plethora of freelance experienced but only decent Cat operators and technicians, needless to say most equipment is Cat 330, 325, D6, 16H etc and parts are readily available for these. There are no tractor dealers worthy of mention. Finally, my budget! Removing shipping and port clearance leaves approx. 50K Sterling (75k USD).

I am open to ideas but have so far managed to draw up 3 broad options for equipment combinations:

1) TLB (medium sized, middle aged i.e 5-10 yrs eg. 3CX)+ Tractor (100-120 hp, middle aged eg. Belarus 1221.1)+ Dump Trailer (10 ton+)

2) Excavator (20-30 ton, middle aged e.g Cat 320CL) + Tractor (100-120 hp, old i.e 10 years + Belarus 1221.1)

3) Excavator (newish i.e under 5 yrs, 20-30 ton eg. Cat320DL) and rent the rest until can afford it

Alternatively, pay around 10K Sterling (15K USD) and contract it all out again! And keep the rest. But just to give you an idea on what I've had to put up with, I agreed a price with a contractor to build dam and clear 10 acres, they brought an old Hitachi 300 destroyed my top soil despite warning not to, left dam with weak point in other words all work was not fit for purpose, refused to get it right and drove off. Another one inspected the job took my money, turned up for the job (to build a small dam) and decided the soil was too soft and I had to do something else, no refund offered. Another one kept asking me to give him money to eat! However, the latter one was very decent operator. my plough guy is reliable, his ploughing is a bit sub standard but he's the only one in my area.

I have very basic mechanical and electrical knowledge, oil changing etc but am a very quick and willing learner who will pick up a thick book on a subject and get good at it like i have with my farming and drip irrigation equipment. Gentlemen and ladies if present, i need you a lot more than you need me now but I hope I can be of service to you in the future. All advice on the above would be greatly appreciated.

Mustang 342/Kubota D1402 puking oil out the breather hose after warm up

The D1402 in my Mustang seems to like to puke oil out the breather hose after things warm up (20-30 min) and the oil level goes down quite a bit (1-2 quarts??) in maybe 3-4 hours of operation. A bit (not much) oil vapor or "smoke" also comes out the end of the hose. The engine seems to be in fair to good shape, matter of fact, it was 14 Deg. F here today and it started up fairly well with no block heater. Makes me think it can't be TOO wore out??

I'm using synthetic Rotella 10-30 oil. It's not like it's really blowing a lot of

air out the end of the hose. And it won't do it cold.

Anybody else seen this problem with a Kubota 4 cylinder?

Almost seems to me like the oil separator/baffle in the valve cover is

a poor design, maybe OK for a new engine, but then when even slight

blow-by begins, it can't deal with oil carry over.

I'm thinking I need to take off the valve cover and make sure everything's intact that's suppose to be in there (no idea what) and if thats all OK, I think

my next step is to modify the design a bit. Maybe a larger hose, or a catch can with some sort of drain back hose so the oil can return to the engine??

Maybe a baffle plate under the valve cover?

Thanks for any info or ideas....

D4E Brakes

I have a D4E SA. While adjusting the brakes I discovered the lining on the right side was split and broke free of the rivets. There was also a piece of the lining broke off. I need to put new brakes in it. My question is: What kind of a job am I looking at? Haven't been able to get a definitive answer yet and haven't received the service manual I ordered. Can the bands be removed through the rear access holes or out the top? This thing has a factory cab so guess that will complicate matters if need to access through the top. Can anyone shed some light on this for me. Thanks.

Heavy duty code readers/software

mardi 27 janvier 2015

So is there a good program (Windows based) or hand held unit, that will give accurate codes for most North American heavy duty applications?

I have ET and SIS, access to quickserve online, but some sort of accurate and reliable reader software or hand held unit for International, detroit, Deere, etc would be oh so handy... Even if I'm to buy the communication link adapters and leads.

Opinions and or feedback are greatly appreciated.

Tires or wheels out of round

I run a 140m with 17.5r25's. I have trouble with washboard especially in loose base as im knocking it down. Fast slow high or low tire pressure doesn't make any difference. Circle angle doesn't even seem to affect it.. Checked the tire/ wheel roundness . It has 1/2 to 3/4" side to side wobble on both right rears. About 1/2" up and down on the same two tires .. the left is pretty close 1/4" or less. Fronts are pretty good. Im thinking of trading fronts to right rear.. Do u guys think my measurements are out of round enough to cause my problems??

Any comments or suggests?

Hough HE

Hello All,

I recently brought an old Hough HE with an FC Waulkesha back from the dead ( abandoned in a New England field for the last 8 years ). I put in three new exhaust valves, 1 new #4 exhaust spring and bronze guide, cam shaft, valve job, rebuilt the carburetor, new lights, seat cushions, wiring, fixed the shifting mechanism, pinion bearing, and some other items. I did the whole engine cam swap and oil pan install in frame. Very difficult working or should I say contorting around the rear tires. Wich brings

Me to the point of this post. The machine is missing the original oil bath aircleaner. Since Hough was an IH product/merger and most machines of the 50's used a vendor supplied Donaldson type oil bath aircleaner, I was wondering if anyone here would have a picture either from a parts list or on an actual machine. I am sure if I see one, I could match one up from a farm tractor. I am also looking for the dimensions of the side curtains or a good picture HF would be the same.

Any help would be awsome

Bobcat T190 Tracks faster in Reverse... Normal?

I recently picked up a 2007 T190 skidsteer. It has 1500 hrs on it. It has had both drive motors replaced, as well as the tracks replaced.

When driving the machine it drives well and calmly in the forward direction. When you go in reverse, top speed is considerably faster, and it is quite noisy. I am not sure if the noise is due to worn sprockets, (one side of each tooth is worn more then the other side).

Regardless, I am just curious if this is normal for the machine to be quite faster in reverse then forward.

As you can tell, this is my first bobcat.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Bobcat 864 Not getting voltage to panel

Hoping you guys can offer up some ideas:

2001 Bobcat 864 G Series (Triangle Headlights, if that makes a difference)

The machine was running fine, when a main hose failed. During the repair, the cage was up for a couple weeks, while we were waiting on parts to arrive and doing some maintenance on the foot controls and such. We got the hoses made up, installed and when we go to fire up the machine, there is no voltage to the panel where the key switch is. The machine will fire off and run fine, when jumping the starter, so I know the battery is still capable. We have removed both the Left side gauge panel, as well as the key switch panel to check for corrosion or moisture in those. There was some, we dried it out, and noticed no corrosion or anything out of the ordinary. Still no lights or any indication of power to the key. We removed the key switch, tested it, and all was fine. I do have the service manual with wiring diagram, but it's limited in the sense that many of the wires show going in/out of the computer but don't indicate if they are supposed to be carrying voltage or not. In the fuse panel, we have tried swapping relay's around, no difference.

When turning the key, I can hear one relay, moving, but none of the lights, or gauges move or any indication of any power going to the panel at all.

Can anyone suggest a specific wire I should trace? Or a possible cause for this? We are out of troubleshooting ideas.

Thanks!

CAT 416b front bucket quit curling down

Hey guys. I was doing some clearing on my property today and the front bucket dump position went away. It just went directly curled to the load position. The 1996 416b backhoe is mechanically sound with 4100 hrs. All hydraulics are functioning except the front buckets unload position. It went straight to load position and it's stuck. I swapped the hoses and that got it to go directly to the unload position and it locked. I also removed the right wheel to give me access to check all my resolvers on the control valve. Three on the side by access through the frame holes and two on the bottom of it. All orings were intact. I'm stumped at this point. Any help would be appreciated. Put it back into N and it jerks to a stop hard (like brake is dragging). Put it in R2 and it wont even move and the driveshaft out of the torque convertor completely stops spinning. It steers fine and doesnt put any more of a load on the machine when steering. We had the torque convertor out last summer and a shop did some work to it. Put a used primary oil pump back on also at same time. New oil, filters, cleaned screens and oil cooler. Mechanic did torque convertor pressure check cold and was 154psi. This if first time out with the machine since the work has been done. Any ideas?

Need help asap on what set ups to buy

Ok I'm sure this has been talked about but it's hard to find spec info out there. I own a 40,000 lb 8.5 wide and 51,000 lb 10.5 wide with extra reach excavator, I have always paid to have transported from job site to job site. I now want to purchase my own set ups to haul and I live and do business only in pa.

I plan on buying a tri axle and trailer and semi and low boy. My question is what do I need to buy/look for when buying, are all tri axles tow the same weight? And what size trailer? Also what size semi and what size low boy? Do all semis tow the same weight? Is there a certain Axle configureation I need on these trailer and trucks? Also like I said the max I would be hauling is the 51,000 excavator.

Thanks for all your help in advance

Pettibone Multikrane 25

For a week now working on this crane hyudraulic system.Booms up nice, normal.Booming down very, very slow.Hyd.pump labors harder which I can here.Service done:replaced old rotten hyd.oil filters, repacked both hyd.cylinder,r&cleaned pressure relieve valve,r&cleaned up boom down boom control spool. All clean. Also when left up I can here pop here and there as boom comes down slowly on its own. There is no visible hyd.oil leaks on hoses, fittings.I belive the repacking of main cylinders was wrong recomendation, everything was done not long ago which I found evidence of but I did it anyway.I was hired to do it.Now what next? What am I missing. Also one of the main cylinder has some over load control unit with pilot line.Cleaned that too.No dirt, instaled new O-rings,however have no idea how to preset the pilot line adjustment, rather where is the zero or neutral setting if this is the correct term. Also would like to learn the proper way to do hyd.system diagnostic-trouble shoot problems. Thanks to all who will help me.

Changing Hydraulic Oil/Fluid in a 2007 Bobcat T300 questions.

Is there a drain plug or does the Hyd. Fluid have to be pumped out?

How many Gallons does it hold?

Starting to have some Hydraulic Low Charge/Pressure issues so we figure start with oil then, check pressure, sensors, and so on before sending it to the dealer.

Thanks in advance!!

Should I mention non-union experience when applying for a union apprenticeship?

There's an apprenticeship opening up in my area soon and I'm going to go pick up the application. I've been working for a non-union company for the past 6 months running a skid steer loader, pretty much purely as a learning experience (I told the owner I'd work for free to learn; he offered to pay me about half of what other operators make instead and I took the job in a heartbeat). My question is: should I mention this when I apply to the apprenticeship or at the interview? There's a clause that says any applicant claiming previous experience will be tested. In all honesty, I'm just about at the point where I'm comfortable doing all the basic tasks of a skid steer loader--I'm certainly not an expert. I don't know what their "test" would be like or if I'd even pass. Moreover, even though the company I've been working for is outside of the Local's jurisdiction, I'm worried about saying I've been working non-union. So far I've been told to say I've been running a skid steer on residential jobs (all non-union around here) or to not tell them about the last 6 months at all and let them think I can't operate anything. What do you guys think? Any advice to offer?

A-300 AWS 2 speed locked out

I recently purchased a 2007 A-300 Bobcat. I've been spending a little time in the loader and in the owners manual learning how to operate it's many features. I have to admit it's a little intimidating learning this with joysticks as I've been operating the older designed hand & foot controlled loaders for many years. My currant issue is with the engagement of the 2 speed. It appears to be locked out as it worked for a while. I read in the manual that the low speed had to switched out and I followed these instructions but it still will not engage. I've run through the display settings to find an unknown failure notice I'd bet was connected to this issue. I also noticed in the maintenance history this had happened before and the joystick was upgraded. I'd like to think I can fix this issue without a trip to the dealer. Any help would be appreciated.

Volvo L70 Oil Leak Front Wheel

Hi all

Just noticed yesterday my L70 is leaking oil behind the brake disc on the front left wheel. Don't have much experience with these. I'll post a pic tomorrow, just wanted an opinion and how easy a job it is to do.

Obviously I can put the bucket down to lift her up and get the wheel, caliper off etc, but don't want to start taking the hub to bits and getting out if my depth.

DeflateGate?

It seems that the Patriots defenders have finally figured out an atmospheric explanation for their air pressure debacle,I told my lady the other night what would cause it,documenting it by reminding her that she needs to always check and inflate her tires when they were cold as she has heard from me over the years and while I was at my oncologist a couple of days ago the nurse flushing my port says that her car tells her when her tire pressure is low but the warning lights go out after she warms them up by driving on them so she theorized that the same thing happened to the footballs.I imagine the lawyers with those fancy cars figured it out too but wanted all the free press that they were getting while they could.Ron G

New holland quick attatch

samedi 24 janvier 2015

Anyone swap out a 1993 of newer quick attatch plate to an earlier "pin on" new holland skidsteer. I've been looking at the conversion adapters but they all seem to have the pivot pin and hydraulic cylender pin inline with each other, top to bottom, and my L785 has the pin locations offset. The cylender pins inboard and the pivot pins outboard. I've seen the weld on pin plates but I think you have to build out the factory attatching plate for correct angling. If I could get a used quick attatch from a later model to just swap out that would be great. Just wondering if anyone knows if it can be done, and or has done it.

One or Two Spare Tracks?

I just bought a Takeuchi TB-135 and was thinking it would be wise to keep a spare track on hand.

I'm not very experienced with this sort of equipment and I suspect my military APC experience would be of limited applicability.

So, is it OK to keep a single track on hand as a spare or do they really need to be replaced as a pair?

Bobcat 863, bucket pivot bushings

Hello everyone,

I am new to this form, and also to skid steers. I just recently purchased a 1999 863 Bobcat, G-series, with under 1300 hours. The machine is in pretty nice shape, but I went to grease all of the pins the other day, and everyone except the bottom right bucket pivot pin took grease. I tried everything, heat, penetrating oils in the grease gun, etc. but no luck. Anyway, I realized the bushing shifted and was sticking out of the arm at least 1/8", so the channel wasn't lining up with the pin's grease hole. The bushing actually wore a nice groove into the bobtach. Because of that, it was annoying to drop down the bobtach.

I decided to replace the pins/bushings/seals on both sides while I had the attachment plate down. I removed both bushings pretty easily. I MIG welded here and there in the bushing and both hammered out nicely. The bore, whose bushing wasn't getting grease, is a bit rusty, though. I lightly wire brushed it, and also lightly hand sanded it with some old 100 and 220 grit paper. I still have a decent amount of pitting, as I'm afraid of removing too much material.

I am just not quite sure if the bore will be tight enough to support the new bushing. I tested the bores with the better of the two old bushings (which I shrunk by welding inside). The shrunk bushing will start to go into the side that was greasing fine, but to go further I'd have to hammer it in. But, on the other side with the more pitting, when I take the same bushing I can push it in by hand. Maybe I'm worrying too much and the new bushing will be tight enough, despite the pitting and wear. I'm just wondering if there is anything else I can or should do.

Has anyone used something like Loctite, at the ends of the bushing, or something else to fill space slightly?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Joe

jd 555a with problems buy or not

I have located a 555a that I can purchase for basically scrap price. It has a head gasket blown (blowing compression out in front of # 1 cyl) It will start and run. The hydraulic seems to work fine for the little bit I ran it, but the transmission barely pulled, I pulled the dipstick, the oil is milky it has either had water or coolant in it. I would probably only use this machine 20 to 30 hours a year. I have read that the 555A has bad transmission problems and is very expensive to fix. Any chance I might get lucky, by changing fluid and having it work enough to get me by. There are some parts on it I can use on another machine that my brother owns, if I do scrap it out. Also, I have read, that possibly you can put a 450 Transmission in this machine. I work as an auto mechanic so I would be doing this work myself. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

1986 wa350 won't move

Plowing this morning. Driving up the street and all of a sudden the loader revved up and stopped moving. Clutch cutout switch didn't do anything. Cut the wires and still nothing. Parking brake not applied. Oil level in trans is good. Filter has less than 100 hrs. You can feel it go into forward and reverse but it will rock back and forth maybe an inch and that's it and motor just revs. Same symptom in all 4 gears forward or reverse. I didn't dig into the solenoid block yet since I'm still plowing but if I'm feeling it go into forward or reverse, can I eliminate that as an issue in there? Just throwing stuff around in my head as I'm working until I get a chance to look at it tomorrow. Any thoughts?

2000 bobcat 553. I either have boom control or traction, not both. Help!

I was cleaning snow when I lost my hydraulics. Hit the green button and it ran fine again for a minute, than again I lost boom control. Limped it home. Thought there was something up with the seat bar sensor. Found the green wire was badly pinched. Removed it, soldered it, reinstalled. My wheels were locked and I had control over my boom when seat bar was down. Lifted seat bar hit green button and wheels were again operational. Installed a new sensor and cylinder. Same problems as before.

With the seat bar up my traction light is on and wheels are operational. With seat bar down my seat bar, system activated and valve lights are on and the traction light is off, I can operate the boom but if I try to drive it locks up.

Tried unhooking negative post for awhile trying to re set. Tried yelling at it, tried throwing wrenches, no luck. Any help would be appreciated, thanks folks!

could low hydraulic fluid cause valve lock?

It seems the pintle arm seals are leaking more heavily than I originally imagined(maybe even while the machine just sits).

I've only run the 863F about a dozen times for a total of about 50min. and now the dipstick comes out dry.

My thought was that maybe the BICS valve started locking more frequently as the fluid level got lower until it now just locks immediately when I try tilt.

Lift still works but maybe because the tilt actuator is above the lift it gets less fluid?

Also just noticed that the lower actuator is very loose as if the mounting bolt is almost completely out.

Is this common?

JD 333D or Bobcat T300?

I am in the market for a used CTL and I have narrowed my choices to a 2012 JD 333d with 3000 hrs or a 2007 BOBCAT T300 with 1700 hours. I wanted to get thoughts on both. I plan to run a mulching head. I really like the 333 but I'm not sure about the hours. The 333 has not been running a mulching head but the T300 has. Should I be afraid of a 3000 hour machine? Should I take the older machine with less hours over the newer with more? I've never owned one so any help will be appreciated.

580K Phase 1 Transaxle Oil

The manual says to use Case Transaxle fluid MS1317 and that is the only thing I have found that is 80W-140 and suitable for the wet brakes on this machine. According to the info found here, http://ift.tt/1Jj51cw, New Holland TRX is the same, but I've called three NH dealers and none of them have ever heard of that. Here is the info on the Case branded product: http://ift.tt/1CwYY2r

I'm not too crazy about a 160 mile round trip to the nearest Case construction dealer and would like to pick it up in person to be sure what I get is what I need.. The one I called in Charlotte NC said it was in stock and was $158.00 for 5 gallons. Anyone know of a alternative?

So sad

Yair . . . I just tripped and stumbled over this . . . .

Stomp on the gas in a new Ford Mustang or F-150 and you'll hear a meaty, throaty rumble — the same style of roar that Americans have associated with auto power and performance for decades. Now Drew Harwell reports at the Washington Post that the auto industry's dirty little secret is that the engine growl in some of America's best-selling cars and trucks is actually a finely tuned bit of lip-syncing, boosted through special pipes or digitally faked altogether. "Fake engine noise has become one of the auto industry's dirty little secrets, with automakers from BMW to Volkswagen turning to a sound-boosting bag of tricks," writes Harwell. "Without them, today's more fuel-efficient engines would sound far quieter and, automakers worry, seemingly less powerful, potentially pushing buyers away." For example Ford sound engineers and developers worked on an "Active Noise Control" system on the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost that amplifies the engine's purr through the car speakers. Afterward, the automaker surveyed members of Mustang fan clubs on which processed "sound concepts" they most enjoy

Marketing . . .what can I say?

Cheers.

What's your favorite winshield washer fluid

It seems like windshield washer fluid these days doesn't do much for removing the oily film on my windshield. I'm wondering if any of you have a fluid you have found that actually works. Or maybe a 'home brew' or an additive of some kind. I realize one of the characteristics for some of you needs to be is ability to work in continually freezing conditions. Not so much here. It freezes occasionally, so that's a secondary concern. I'd just like to find something that will cut the film on my windshield.

Bobcat s650 vs ??

so after replacing the s185 and having the "huge" bobcat 570 that seems to be working out ok, i got bored the other day and looked into "similar sized" machines. our 570 has the wheel spacers (which i was not aware was necessary to install tracks) and is 74 inches wide, ic the 650 is 72 inches wide. my most interesting find was that a 650 is only 4 inches longer than a 570! SURELY i should be able to make such a machine work out on the operation!! i believe the old s250 was about 10" or 12" longer, a significant amount... so my new question is, would i be willing to give up the sweetness of the small frame jcb and move to a 650 to gain the extra 1500 lbs tipping load. (the large frame jcb is significantly larger than a 650) so this doesn't seem like a terrible strategy but i do not like the small and loud cab of the bobcat, and less than convenient entry and exit.

so then i got looking into "competitive" machines to the 650 and there doesn't seem to be any. I'm aware that bobcats 873 size frame size was absent for 5 years or so and i have to admit that bobcat was strategic in forcing people to buy 650s cuz they were the only m series for a few years. so what i realized is there is nobody who has a competitive machine (as far as dimensions) [an enigma similar to the case 440 from back in the day] to the 650. Except ironically kubota!! ic the cat machine is narrower than the 650 but quite a bit longer so thats probably out. i never looked at deere case new holland or terex cuz aint nobody wants one of those.

so my question is, does anyone have a competitive machine to the kubota 75 and the bobcat 650 as far as dimensions go. i guess i will answer my own question and say no.

at the same time the local bobcat dealer ic has 2 650s on the lot and like 25 570 size machines so what does that tell you.

it is also frustrating that there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of consistency between machine specs between different manufacturers. ic the "turning radius" for the kubota size 650 is like 20 inches longer, which i do not really believe.

so once again i am in a bind i feel i could use the extra lifting capacity to better handle my monster buckets, but at the same time i feel the larger machine might ironically ruin my big buckets with the excessive breakout forces.

Bobcat s650 vs ??
