Help needed calibrating loadrite lr 915

Anyone know the steps to calibrate a loadrite system? We have a certified truck scale at our pit the loader is located at so making sure weights are correct isn't a problem but I'm having difficulties calibrating this thing. I get to set up and enter the access code and I can see my L% and my R% so where do I go from here. Thanks guys

Case 580c shuttle installation valve help

Ok, I removed the shuttle valve to clean and inspect. I am going to rebuild the solenoid(the wires were cut off flush with the housing). The end plate has three notches and the one more notch. According to the picture where would the neutral setting be? Does the sender ball fit into the elongated slot or in the center of the three other dimples. http://ift.tt/1iKUM5Y

JLG 40h lift, swing, move all stopped working suddenly

The lift up/down swing left/right and move forward/reverse all stopped working together. Stepping on the foot peddle still causes engine rpms to increase. I did check for 12 volts under the basket control console, its present with foot peddle depressed. I suspect I have hydrualic pressure as the boom still telescopes in/out ( but this is on a seperate valve block from the lift/swing/move valve block). I have the PQ controls. When I actuate the lift or swing PQ joystick, the engine does not change rpm, ie engine does not see a load. When I actuate the move PQ joysitck, I get a very slight change in engine rpm. If all three functions stop working together, what could be the causes?

Thanks

Acco Grader

Acco built the biggest motorgrader ever. I have read, that they built two types. The prototype is the 6 wheel grader and the other one has 12 wheels.

Here the one which has 12 wheels:

And the other with 6 wheels:

Does anybody know what happend to both?

The one with 6 wheels has lost some parts :(

Cat 977L bucket swap

I'm looking for a parts machine and would like to know if buckets are interchangeable between models. An early L like mine uses the same 41 link tracks as a K. I need them chains! My pads are like new. But my 4 in1 bucket is also damaged in the front half. So a good 4 in 1 or gp bucket especially like a 10 foot wide would be nice!

Cat 257B 2 down on power

I have a 1900 hr 257b that I just bought. Near the end of the first tank of fuel, it went down on power(like I let off the throttle) it would surge like it was starving for fuel. When I took the cap off, it was "suctioned" to the tank. I refueled and it worked normal for quarter of a tank then went down again for maybe 45 seconds then ran normal. Since then, it has happened several times after about 1 to 2 hours of constant use. Today (at about just below 1/4 tank) had the same issue till I filled with fuel.

Is it possible the fuel cap "vent" is not letting air in and vapor lock is forming? It seems that it only happens at low fuel or sustained run times, but is cured after the fuel cap is removed

Is there a fuel pickup "tube" that can be blocked in the tank?

Concrete Crushing ????

I need some advice, Mobile Jaw or Impact crusher.

We recycle concrete/bricks etc for about 6 years, We ran Komatsu 380 Jaw crushers and it worked well I sold this unit 12months ago.I'm Looking to start crushing again and a few blokes have been saying mobile impact crushers are the go in stead of the jaw,I would like to buy a machine around 30 ton mark any coments.

Thanks Leroy :)

No one will hire me

What should someone like me do who wants to stay in this field and work for bigger companies but cant get hired anywhere because of my minimal experience? I currently work for a small excavation company as a laborer. I would like to move on to a bigger company. How am I supposed to get experience if no one will hire me? Is it even possible or should I choose a different path?

komatsu d65e-6 oil bypassing problem

mardi 29 avril 2014

Hi there,

I have a KOMATSU D65E-6 that is bypassing oil from the transmission or tourqeconverter to the engine, and filling the engine with oil,

And also pressurising the transmission.

Just wondering,If anyone else has had the same problem and was able to fix it.Can't get a strait answer out of anyone!

863 Bobcat electrical problem

I have a 863 Bobcat that blows the alternator/ accessory fuse immediately upon turning the key to start the machine. Afterwards the machine must stop charging the battery and after 20-30 minutes or so engages the transmission lock. Then the battery is dead and will not restart the machine. It use to blow a fuse every once in a while and now has been happening with almost every startup. My thoughts are this should make it easier to find the problem now.

I need a wiring diagram for this portion of the electrical system and any suggestions on where to start searching for the dead short to ground. I'm going to start by looking at the key switch and maybe disconnecting the alternator to rule it out.

Thanks everyone in advance .......this site has been a wealth of knowledge.

Posting pics. iPad and iPhone

Don't think it's supposed to be this difficult for a so called smart devices.

Manage images option for ipad has no function when selected.

On iPhone the attempt to upload buffers a long time then gives a heavyeqip failure tag.

You would think one could just copy and paste but even my computer savvy wife gave up.

Help please

Thank you.

Cat 277c 2 speed ...need advice

Ok I got to watch operator run this today ...if youre steering straight it still turns left ...

Kinda like one track is turning a lil faster then other ...

.Now this is the thing I hate

The Mech before me had to weld a part on the right side and I don't know if its that or what ..

But it ran fine before this

The part that was welded is on back idler in between number 2 and 3 discs (remember this is the fast side )so if he didn't square it to everything and its making it seem bigger or taller track .kinda like smaller tire against a bigger one on rear axle of a car ...

Ill clean it up get some pics and show what was welded

But only thing that was altered was this and now this problem with speed difference in right to left

D6C Torque Convertor

Was running the D6C, 10K powershift this past Saturday. Temperatures have been warming in Alabama, so Saturday was probably the warmest day I had operated yellow belly in some time. Was doing pushing with fully loaded blade, 1st gear, mostly level ground. Noticed the water temperature ticked up just a bit. Afterward, noticed the converter temp start moving up. It has been running middle way, straight up. It moved to half way from middle to the start of the red. Kept doing what I was doing and when I parked the machine, noticed some oil dripping from the belly.

Today I was able to open some things up and see that the oil is going from the torque converter housing where the u-joint shaft comes out, it appears anyway at this time. I went around and pulled the strainer at the bottom and other than some metal on the magnet, the screen was mostly clean.

Could this just be a bad seal and the oil leakage is leading to the additional temperature? Is that range of temp worth even worrying about? I've read about the flooding of the converter causing heat, which was my first thought after seeing where the oil was coming from, but it is leaking while idling and no hard work. For the experts, what do you suggest? This is not a daily run machine anymore, but a few hours each day recently and all day on the weekends.

2 Questions on Fiat Allis 8B / FL9...

For starters, more immediate issue.. I am in need of the 4 bolt flange that bolts onto the top of the exhaust manifold where the muffler can clamp on. Mine rusted out. I got the flange off today and CAN weld a pipe to it to put the muffler on but would like to find a new flange if I can get it. It's the C03-130 engine. It's too late to call Minpar and didn't know if someone knew the correct terminology for that part or could possibly give me a part # or better place to look....

Secondly... since I've had this dozer, the steering clutches only work when under load. If I'm deadheading, pulling on the handles will only slightly pull it off course, I'd guess it would take at least a 200-200 sq yard field to turn it in a circle with the steering clutches. Can of course assist it with the brakes and do what you need to. Also, if you're running in high gear empty, it will turn pretty decent. Now, if you have a small load of dirt in front of the blade or even if you have no load but are going uphill, it turns pretty good with the handles. Someone told me they thought these machines were designed that way, but makes no sense to me... anyone chime in?

New to me, Old International 3964 excavator, where to find parts?

Hello everyone:

Well I have always wanted an excavator, now I have one. The price was right, Looks good, runs good. everything works.

I was a aircraft mechanic, so I am not afraid to fix things up, and I know that at some time something will break.

I was just wondering if there is someone out there that has one of these machines that has a line on parts.

I have original parts book. Is there any way to cross reference to other manufactures. I would like to get some new rollers

and maybe find a spare drive or swing motor, as they are all the same on this machine. I really like the beast, she has lever controls. which is good for me. nice and slow, and I don't know any different to pilot controls. I will post pictures of the excavator as soon as I take some shots.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks: new to the forum: Johnny O

490e pvc

We're getting a monsoon here in the Shenandoah Valley which has given me a chance to sort out the last few issues on my 490E. I have replaced the engine controller,PVC,machine wiring harness, angle sensor and swing brake solenoid. Everything works except the arm which travels very slow. Pilot pressure is good. I put the PVC from a working 490E on it and the arm works as it should but it won't swing at all. I put the PVC on the other machine and the arm is slow there as well. When I put the PVC back on that machine it works as it should. Any help with what I should try next? Thanks in advance Joey

955K issues

I just bought a 1971 955k to use at the local gun club. I played around with it the other day and I noticed a couple of things that I'm a little worried about. I thought I'd ask for some advice.

The first is the transmission. After the machine warms up and after backing up sometimes it won't go into 1st. I have to pull it into 2nd or even 3rd to start forward motion. After it starts moving I can go back down to 1st.

The other issue is the drive on the right side. I was digging the other days and the machine was spinning the tracks. Then the right track stopped spinning and the left track continued. Is they a weak final drive? The pads are wore down pretty good and I would hate to think how bad it would be if I welded the pads up.

Ideas on what you guys think is wrong and roughly what it would cost to repair would be great. Thanks!

Volvo L120E down on power

Hi

I have a Volvo L120E, 2006 in year with the D7elbe3 common rail engine. The loader is down on power when working and wont go up to full speed on the road. When I stop the machine, start the engine and stall out the transmission it shows rpm of 2100 but after 40 seconds it cuts back down to 1760 rpm. When I stop the machine and do this again the same happens and there is no smoke from the engine its like as if you just hit a switch and the revs cut back. I have had the main dealer out to the machine with a Vcads diagnostics and it shows everything ok accept when the fault comes into the machine the high pressure fuel in the rail drops but doesn't set off any sensors or faults. So far I have changed the full set of injectors, 2 x high pressure fuel pump, Fuel control unit valve, high pressure relief valve in the rail, high pressure fuel sensor, low fuel pressure sensor, belt driven fuel pump, water separator fuel filter housing, engine ECU and vehicle ECU. Has anyone ever had this problem ? I would be grateful for any assistance from someone who had this problem or is very good with Volvo loader repairs.

How Did The Dozer Get To The Other Side Of The Road

Just a slight pun, but there is a question.

My D3B weights in around 15K, shoe size 16 inch wide, single 1 3/4 inch grousers. I can put the dozer on the trailer to cross the local 2 lane asphalt road, but wonder about other methods. I have some 2x8 oak boards which maybe able to do it.

Any other ideas?

Newbie, looking for suggestions and input...relating to 1986 JCB 1400B

Hello All,

I am a true newbie to this world of backhoes. This week a new to me 1986 JCB 1400B will be delivered to my place. It will be used at the house, addition, new garage, additional septic, some trenching and maybe eventually a small pond. I would like any suggestions/tips that you guys could offer. I am assuming that JCB owners will have some ideas for me, since I also assume JCB may have some items that may differ to other makes.

I would like to prepare myself somewhat. Meaning, gather some required tools, manuals, fluids, etc...

I have a pretty good selection for automotive tools (1 1/2" and down), household plumbing tools, household/marine electrical tools, and all the sheet metal workers hand tools (this is my trade).

so, what size wrenches would be good to have on hand, standard or metric, or both? any specialty tools needed off the bat?

First order of business for me is fluid and filter changes and I will wait to get new filters until I have unit home to cross reference what is on it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Volvo EC160D-Need opinions

We currently have 2 excavators, one being a Volvo EC140B. This machine has been bullet proof. Has 6000 hours with the original undercarriage and the only breakdown we have had was an oil cooler gasket. I am seriously considering adding a new Volvo EC160D with a blade and long stick. I would sure appreciate any opinions or experiences you have had with this machine. Also looking at Cat and Komatsu, but Volvo is currently my first choice. Thanks for any help.

Kubota KH60 steel tracks

Hi guys,

I am new to the forum and this is my 1st post.

I have an old Kh60 and i am having some problems with one of the tracks. It has started to come off on a regular basis , the last time i pulled the idler out of the frame and someone had put a 3 inch hard wood block in there and the adjuster ram had worn right through it . After putting it back without the block the track has a lot of slack in it.

So i am wondering would it be better to make a metal spacer to take up the slack or have a track plate removed ?

Also i don't have an owners manual so could someone please tell me how much tension should be in the tracks ?

My other problem is the 3 bolts in the drive sprockets are always coming loose or shearing off . Could this be because i have been pumping the tracks too tight?

Would it be advisable to loctite them in ( I did see one for sale on ebay and the owner had welded a small bar in a T shape on the heads of the three bolts to stop them loosening )

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Great forum bye the way

Many Thanks, Tom

septic problems

lundi 28 avril 2014

I was just wondering if anyone here smarter than me would be willing to help me along the way. I am I'm im the process of bidding an et bed in the next county over. I have installed lots of laterals but never an et bed. It is going to be roughly 33 x 50 and has to be excavated out 3 feet deep. I am comming up with roughly 184 cu yd. Is that close at all? Then I must install 12" of 3/4 washed gravel. I am getting about 92 tons? Then 2" of pea gravel. I am getting about 13 tons. Then 10" of sand. I am getting about 78 tons. Is this math close at all? If so dose anyone have any advice on how to price an et bed vs conventional laterals. Thanks in advance for all advice and criticism. That I will receive for posting this question as I am sure some one will say don't bid but hey everybody has to learn some how. I like getting an education its just I don't want it to cost too much

If you were in the market for a used Skid

List the 'Must Haves' you would look for in a used skid steer if you were going to buy one.

List in order of what would be most important to you first, last thing least important.

Brand, lift type, hp, lift OC, to creature comforts, etc whatever it is that you would consider when looking.

Thanks

Cat 955K

Hey. I have a 1970 Cat 955K. I am trying to locate a support link retainer. This is the safety part that screws in to the lift arm when the bucket is up. The safety support link is still on the machine but the retainer/bolt that holds the support link is missing. I checked my part book and can't locate the part number. Does anyone know what it is or where I can find one?

outrigger leaks down after set up

When I get my outriggers set up the drivers side outrigger leaks down but no leaks on ground , could it be a check valve ?

new holland LX-985

does anyone have a hydraulic drawing for this machine. Stopped moving . bucket works. seems to be no pressure from pumps. Does the left pump have a charge pump in it? This is a model LX985

Volvo L90E Shift solenoid

Shift solenoid error msg keeps popping up on the screen. Machine will not go back or forward when this happens. I have marked and unplugged the six solenoids off of the side of the trans. They seem to be more of "what gear its in" and not just a foreward and reverse selector. Should I be looking more towards the for/rev switch or is there actually just another solenoid located elsewhere? Thanks

JCB 506B Perkins fuel in crankcase

This tele-handler sat all winter and surprisingly wouldn't start last week. The owner asked me if i would take a look at it. So Saturday the missus and I loaded up and went to see what we could find. After recharging the fuel filters and bleeding the fuel system It started and ran great. As we were cycling it through all the functions we noticed the machine tilt didn't work. The linkage for it was corroded & jammed up. A healthy dose of penetrating oil and some hammer work later we had it tilting again. As the wife ran the tilt all the way right I noticed a bunch of fluid spill out of the draft tube. I checked and sure enough it was slightly oilly diesel. Pulled the dipstick & same thing :Banghead.

So my questions are this...other than the injection pump front seal or diaphragm on the lift pump, what else might this guy be looking at? What should i do to start narrowing down the possible culprits before we get into some extensive exploratory surgery? Are some fuel passages in that cylinder head like on a common rail? maybe leaky o-rings? Does anyone have a service manual for this engine (1004-4?)

Perkins engine data plate reads something like

A850445, ser #U722239a , TPL # 1550220

Appreciate any help.

What materials/alloys are used for excavator booms and sticks?

Hello All,

I am a mechanical designer who is new to the heavy equipment industry. My experience is in camera/lighting systems for the glass industry. I am trying to get up to speed as fast as possible so I don't have to ask so many questions and so that I can add value to my work.

I am looking for help understanding common materials used in various parts of excavators and similar equipment. If anyone could chime in on what alloys they are familiar with for various elements of heavy equipment, or let me know of some resources that they would recommend, that would be awesome.

Thanks!

Cat 426 Boom wont lift a load unless i start to swing.

Ok so I got a new Tranny in my Backhoe and its been working great so now to tackle the next problem. The main boom is slow to lift and when it has a full bucket it wont lift at all. But i learned this weekend that if I start to swing the boom while lifting it does the job. I can swing left or right, as soon as the stick moves to open the swing valves i get the hyd power to lift the boom. Is the problem in the joystick manifold.any comments is appreciated. Thanks

D5M Hydraulic Temperature Guage Not Working

The hydraulic temp guage doesn't work. I bought this dozer last fall and the guage never did work for me. I've found a wire going to the bottom of the hydraulic tank to what could be a sensor. Is there any way to test this sensor? I doubt wether it is just the guage. What else could it be? Thanks

How often do you change oil on a Cat3126?

How often do you change your oil on a truck with a Cat 3126? I had heard reports that if you don't change it every 5000 miles you are asking for trouble and they wont run right. I just picket up a truck, and had a hard time making it home. It was a trukcking co that owned it and they said they change oil in theirs every 15K miles and this truck was due for a oil change. I had to drive it 800 miles home. On a week end, couldn't find a oil filter, TA, Pilot, Flying J, Loves, none of them had a oil filter. Truck run like crap,, no power, had to downshift on smallest incline and some times would only run 45. Finally did find a couple of fuel filters and changed them but it didn't help. Will change oil in a couple of days. Shure hope that it will solve the problem.

Case 450ct

I have a 2005 Case 450CT and when full speed ahead or back it wants to pull to the right and I have to use the left control to straighten it out again. Pulls about 2' to the right over a 25' span. Is there just an adjustment that needs to be done on the right hand control?

New D7E ride quality

I have been running a newer 7E LGP for almost a year now and I really like it! But I have got to say this has got to be the roughest riding dozer I have ever ran, it's brutal on anything solid, and if you have to get into rock you have to keep it in 1st hear or lower to be able to stay in the seat. Is it just cause it an LGP or even the standard tracks just as bad?

Bobcat t190 problem PLEASE HELP!!!

dimanche 27 avril 2014

Hey all! I have been scanning this site for years now and finally decided to register. Awesome site! Here is my issue that I hope you guys can help me out with! I have a 2005 t190 with 1500 hrs on it. I recently bought it not knowing the previous owner didn't do any of the maintance. As soon as I bought it I went to dealer and bought all the stuff to do a full maintance. While doing the work I found the case drain on the right side of machine lightly dirty with some silver metal In it. The left side was heavily filled with silver metal chunks an shavings. I changed them both drained the hydraulic fluid did the other maintance and used the machine for one job! During the job the left side started squealing pretty bad! I stopped using the machine and took my final drives off to take them to be rebuilt. Well the place I took them to took them apart to inspect them and found that the final drives themselves were not damaged my problem was the brakes. The we're hanging up and causing problems, the worse being the actual brake housing itself where the gear is was grooved pretty bad. The problem is that the availability on that housing since mine is the 5 port is hard to come by! Long story short my only option was to buy 2 new drives! ($6700 ouch!) my concern now is what was causing the brakes to hang up? I am being told all kinds of things such as I need a new charge pump to the brake seals in the drive were bad which was what caused it. I just don't want to install these new drives and damage the new ones! Any suggestions on what I can do to test the other components or what else to check before I run the machine. Thanks all imput will be helpful!

Case 1835B running issue...HELP

I have a case 1835B. When you first start it, runs great after a minute or two it loses a lot of power and there is excessive BLUE smoke. New injection pump, lift pump, and filters. It had no issues after the pumps were changed approximately 20 hours ago. It always had a little blue smoke, but not this bad. After first startup smoke is very minimal and runs great. When it loses power the smoke is excessive. It leads me away from a fuel issue because the smoke is not black. The charge filter light is on, but the wiring does not look the best and the charge filter light has been on even when I had no issues.

2006 case 590 sm2 opinions

Going to travel to dealership on Tuesday to look at a 2006 case 590 sm2 4x4 loader/backhoe with 1100 hrs. It has heat, air, pilot controls, x-hoe, rear quick coupler, ride control, 24" bucket, aux hydraulics and states it has no shuttle which I assume means powershift. It will be used to clear tree stumps, tear out fence, bury several small concrete foundations, bury tree piles and in the future used to install drainage tile connections. I have only used mini excavators in the past, so this in new territory for me. Reason for case is local dealer support and recommendations by local construction contractors. Is the powershift reliable and a benefit over the shuttle shift? Any thing particular to 2006 model year that is a problem? Is the 590 a major benefit over the 580?(tried researching model differences and it becomes rather confusing). Does this model and year have the cummins or iveco engine? Sorry for all the questions, but I have waited a very long time to able to afford one and have too many jobs needing attention to put it off any longer. Any and all info, no matter how inconsequential will be greatly appreciated.

Back in the saddle

Twelve years after selling my equipment (D8,D7,955), I reopened a quarry and purchased a CAT 973 - 90L. With 5000 hours, great u/c, a strong engine it looked great. But, the machine was not properly maintained, so.............. the hydrostatic transmission suffered. So many years of sludge/dirt to remove, several oil & filter changes etc. But after a few months the machine couldn't keep on working. The hesitant drive response became more pronounced, then steering went on one side. Dozing power worsened until i could not get forward drive.Even though the pressure readings were high, the Mechainc advised to pull out the transmission. The port plates (2 I think) were only slightly scored, the servo cylinder hoses had ruptured, he found no other damages, that's what I thought. Two mechanic changes later I am practically back where I started!!.

Next post has the details. Really going to need some help on this.

Ford 555 Not Turning Over Any Ideas?

I'm sure this has been discussed before so i'll give a quick breakdown:

Parked machine looking into leak out top of fuel pump

Reached under fuel tank to turn off fuel

After investigating problem turned fuel back on and will not turn over

Battery fine

In neutral and neutral switch working properly

14v to top of starter

Does this sound like a relay? ground? switch?

I believe the ignition is working properly b/c when I turn it i see the voltage at the neutral switch.

Is it possible/likely that i hit something while under the fuel tank.

Also this is all made a lot harder since the loader is now down.

Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

High flow VS low flow hydraulics

Im looking at a new skid steer and I'm wondering if high flow hydraulics are worth it or if low flow would be good enough. what are the pros and cons? Thanks

no start

hello to all. I am working on a komatsu pc100-6 that will not start. it has been sitting for 2 1/2 years and it ran when it was put away. it has new batteries and when you go to the crank position of the key all power goes away {like a major voltage drop**. where the battery positive cable hooks up there is a unit I don't know what it is. 25volts goes in. there are 2 smaller connections with white wires going to it and a bigger connection that feeds the starter. when I put the key in the crank position it goes from 0volts to 2.5volts. I pulled the cover off this and it is rusted inside. first of all what is this and am I safe to say that my issues with loss of power at the console may be due to this part. most of why am asking for help is that I have no trouble shooting charts or books for this excavator

How do you replace the left tie rod? The inboard end threads onto the power steering cylinder rod. The right side has a flat spot on the rod to receive a wrench, but the left doesn't. Also, there isn't enough space between the axle and the tie rod to put a regular end wrench on the big part of the tie rod.

John Deere 410B Reverser rebuild

Need some advise on a 410B reverser that needs replacing . Air Dryer /Book on air Brakes

I have been working on a 2010 KW that was just bought. The air dryer that is mounted behind the bumper on the Right side leaks air out after the engine is shut off. It will blow for some time and then stop. Is this normal? It also has the Govener mounted on it. Is their a book on air brakes that i can get? I have been working on trucks on and off for 40 years and the newer trucks have more stuff than they need.

953X BBX 700 series water pump leaking

Yesterday my guys call me to say the water pump on the 953C (BBX 700-750 series) was leaking coolant out the pulley shaft. I went to my local Cat dealer parts online site and a remanufactured pump with core is $246 and they have one. A new Cat replacement is $453 plus tax.

I am planning on replacing the whole water pump with a reman. since the price is not that bad and most of the work is removing other items to gain access, so might as well replace.

What is all entailed in replacing the water pump? Plan on removing the rear shroud to gain more working room. Also planning on removing the radiator if we can't get access, since the water pump is on the bottom side of the engine.

Anyone done this before? Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Deere 450c wiring questions

Matthis here again.

I got some great advice on this forum, when we replaced the transmission case on my friends Deere 450C dozer. Thank you all who answered.

However, from the work we did on the engine and trans, some of the wiring is either not hooked up. He had it painted, and there is some wiring that Im not sure where it goes. Up by the alternator, there is a single wire with a clip, that when I tested it for continuity, it lit up with the wire on the alternator that goes to the ground terminal. So i'm assuming its for a ground to what? Also a little farther back near the starter wire, theres 2 wires crimped together on a lug, that has power to it at all times. I looked at the starter, and theres the solenoid wire, battery wire, and 2 small wires off the battery wire that runs into the harness. these two other wires were hanging there loose, and if it would have touched, any metal surface, would have sparked. The lug is a small one for a size #10 bolt, so I don't think it goes on the starter. Any idea where that goes. As of now, its taped up so it wont short to anything.

I have a service manual for this thing, and looking in the book for the alternator, it's showing an external regulator that bolts to the alternator, and I've noticed it having 2 field terminals. On the dozer itself, there is only one field wire terminal, and no external regulator. I believe the S/N is in the 22000 area, so would it have an internal regulator. The amp gauge doesn't seem to move and could be bad. Will install new amp gauge, and see if it's charging. Chances are it isn't because after a bit of using, we have to put the charger on. Can a person use a truck alternator to replace the original one, or should we have the original one rebuilt? seems like this one is sealed up to get no dirt or dust in it.

Thanks for any help. If someone has a nice schematic of the wiring for this unit would be great too. Hard to troubleshoot, when all the wires are one color after a paint job.

Thwaites

thwaites alldrive 5000

When I start it first and select the gear then click the leaver forward it moves forward for a few mins but then the machine comes to a stop, and won't move again. Could this be a hydraulic problem ??? The skip will still tipp and the steering will still steer but the wheels won't turn.

Hitachi EX270 LC, Loss of power/stalling

Fired the ole girl up for season, Inspected and warmed up. Worker great for about 5 minutes.. When touch travel levers it loses power and stalls. Replaced fuel filter with no help. Is a real pain to get restarted and thought was pulling air into fuel supply. Dealer suggested lift pump or air leak. Drained fuel and removed all fittings, hoses, lift pump, and water trap. Replaced lift pump and primer, double clamped hoses too no avail.

Once starts stalling from lever movement it struggles to recover and generally will stall out even if barely move a travel lever. It does not sound like a load is pulling down, more like fuel is being derated. No black smoke from load.

Sugestions anyone with experience on these vintage pieces??

EX400-3H angle sensors

I'm working on an EX400-3H that another person put new pumps in. There's been problems ever since and when I checked the voltage on the angle sensors there's a 1 1/2 volt difference between the two. My problem is that my DR EX died and that's the only way I've known of to adjust angle sensors on EX400s and bigger. Does anyone know of a different way? I tried to adjust them close by using the break out harness and volt meter but can't get them close. One is at 3.38 volts, the other is at 1.50 volts and that is max voltage. I took the low one out to make sure it was installed correctly and it is. If I bring the high one down to 1.5 volts the machine will not operate. Any thoughts?

Thoughts on Hitachi excavator controls?

Re using hydraulic oil

Due to a return line break on a JD 570A and service records I decided it was time to change both hyd. oil and filters. The interval was around 1000 hr since the last filter/hyd. oil change. A previous return line break added about 5 gals. of new Hy-guard about 300 hrs ago. Records indicate the recommended only JD Hy-guard has been used. The old oil was dark, but appeared to be in decent shape.

I am considering re using the old hyd. oil in the chain boxes. Deere specs. call for using their Hy-guard hyd. oil in the chain boxes too, 5 gals. each side, which is just about what I have from the transmission oil change. My reasoning is the demands of a chain box are far less than the hyd. pump and transmission and the cost of using new Hy-guard and and having to deal with recycling another ten gallons. Is there something I don't know about chain lubrication and oil breakdown that could be a problem if I were to re-use the transmission oil in the chain boxes?

The grader gets less than 100 hrs. /yr. of use.

Cat vrs Hyundai

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and also a novice in the industry. I am looking to buy a new TLB. My options where I live that I am deliberating between are a Hyundai 940S and a Cat 428F.

I would use it to dig some dirt to make dams as well as helping make gravel roads and also possibly rent it out in the future.

I guess what I would like to know from the people who have experience with the two companies is which is the better machine? FYI the price here is about the same for the two machines.

I very much appreciate any feedback.

Need help with hydrostatic system II

This machine is a Tigercat 720c rubber tired buncher. 90L75 sauer pump and two 51 series sauer motors. The machine pulls fine when cold and fades as it heats. I have replaced the rotating group in the pump as well the barrel, piston rings and valve plate in the motors and checked the flushing valves. Same problem. I may be getting ahead of myself here as I yet to make the road trip to check for lose of charge pressure and isolate the motors. These motors have a charge pressure relief valve. If one of these was set below the pump charge relief could that cause a super heat of the oil ? Any ideas would be appreciated .

service truck cab organizer

Any searches online have been fruitless. And yes I know I could probably make one like I want but I lake the free time and the desire to start any projects right now.

Would Appreciate Any Advice!

Hey Guys!

My Name is Neil, I'm from British Columbia, Canada. I'm new to this Forum and wanted to say Hello, But also to ask from some Advice.

Let me start off by saying I'm an Ex-Landscape Labourer/LeadHand whatever you wanna call it started off behind a shovel when i was 15 Diggin all day for 6-7 years and im now 25.

With that said i've been Running Bobcat/Skidsteer Pedals/Joystick CAT/Bobcat for about 4-5 years probably about 3,000 Hours started doing it slowly parking it at the end of the day when i was landscaping then moved up to big things like backfilling foundations etc.

I went to School here at Interior Heavy Equipment for Excavator (all i could afford at the time.) However ive ran Packers, Rock Trucks as well. Have all my tickets to go up north i tried applying up north in Alberta/BC. Didnt get any offers other than a few in a Skidsteer, But i wanna work on my Excavator Hours, and Learn other Machinery. After a couple months of sending hundreds of Resumes out i got a job here in my town Running Excavator/Bobcat/Skidsteer my boss is very nice and gives me the chances to stretch my skills and abilitys and get better and work on my civil in town work. But id like to go up north on the oil sands and im finding as a green operator very hard as obviously it should be not anyone can jump in and do what you guys do, ive probably almost got about 1,000 hours in a excavator now. prolly a bit shy of 1,000 but ill just round up.

So my question is what can i do to get my foot in the door a bit more? My dad was a Dump Truck driver for 30 years and one of the best where i live and been told that by many here so i kinda am following in his foot steps he can run all machines but he said i will gewt my chance and i know i will its just somtimes i get down about it cause im trying my best everyday to learn new things and abilitys and be the best operator i can be. Any Advice from you Experts out there that have been doing this for years id really appreciate it i love these machines i am very fascinated about them have been since i was very little the power they have and the things they can do are awesome and being the person inside one making art in the dirt is even more awesome.

Thanks in Advance guys!

Want final drive parts IR zx75 Bobcat 442 Terex HR32 or for sale

I need parts for an Ingersoll Rand ZX75 , same machine as a Bobcat 442 or a Terex HR32 , I need planetary gears and a shaft or if someone wants an excavator needing final drive repair I have a 2006 ZX75 for $15,000

How do I remove this hose????

Hey guys Today I blew one of my hydraulic hoses on my KX91-3, one that goes to the arm piston. I'm at a loss as to how you loosen off the nut at the control stack?? It looks like it is a 22mm nut but theres no way to get a spanner in there. I tried cutting a 7/8 box wrench to be like a brake line fitting wrench but its a bit sloppy and wont work. What tool do I need to get that loose? I would add pics but I cant get them off of my phone right now.

Hours and Help with Machine Purchase (for a newbie)

Hey All,

I am looking at a mini excavator for some simple landscaping at my property. I have a JD27D, used, with 3400 hours I am looking at purchasing. It is an old rental machine, so should be well serviced. Any issues with the hours, if so, what do I look out for. Basically, I am going to put 200 to 500 hours on it, and then sell it when I am done. They are asking $23,500K Canadian for the machine. I basically need to lift and place rocks up to 1500 lbs, plus dig irrigation trench etc. I care about re-sale value, when I am done, I want to sell it for as close to what I purchase it for as I can.

Any help appreciated.

D8K pushing engine oil into transmission

Under heavy load our 1977 D8K is pushing engine oil into the transmission. It is coming out of the vent on the transmission once it gets too full, and it seems to have a power loss when that happens. Should we assume that it is a rear engine seal or are there any other things to look for before doing that enormous job? Thanks in advance.

Oh and its not plugged breathers.

Bobcat 753 traction lock problem

Hello everyone,

I have a 2000 Bobcat 753 G series ( sn#515832169) .

I just got done replacing all of the axle/wheel bearings. This was definitely a job in it's self for sure. After I put everything back together, when I tried to start the machine it immediately shuts down. It's acting as if I was trying to move with out pressing the green button to release the brake. Even with the lap bar down and I can not get the traction lock to disengage.. It's feels like the machine is creeping, I have it on Jack stands still with the front chain box cover removed, and I can see the sprockets moving as I run the engine over. When I took the stick bars off I marked them to make sure I put them back in the same location. I've called every bobcat dealer in south Florida and No one seems to any idea what I'm talking about. If someone knows or might know what's going on any help would be greatly appreciated.

. Thanks, Spencer

Looking at buying deere 310 j 4wd what should I consider

What price should I be looking to pay if in avg to good condition ? (if that is possible for rental unit)

Hydraulic troubleshooting / diagnosis

In the interest of becoming the best that I am able to be,

Cutting Fluid for Bandsaw

We've got one of the import 7x12 bandsaws for our farm shop. I prefer running it with coolant vs dry. However since it doesn't get used a lot, the water in the coolant mix evaporates out. I usually add more water (distilled) and carry on. Every couple of years, I dump out the tank and start fresh.

It is time to clean it again and I am out of the water-soluble fluid I used before. Wondering what I should go to?

Would a light weight oil be a better option? (Less evaporation??) I was thinking maybe a light hydraulic/trans fluid?? Any thoughts?

There are some oil-based cutting/tapping fluids that I can get, but I have no idea how thick/thin they are. This bandsaw has a small pump and pumps through 1/4" hose to 2 nozzles, so definitely don't want anything too thick!

S250

I have an S250. Turn the key on, only the parking brake light goes on. Wait 10 seconds then the fuel gauge comes on and the temp gauge starts moving. Now you can start the engine, and operate the machine. If the fuel gauge doesent move there is no engine crank. If you wait ten minutes or so when you turn the key on all the lights in the right panel come on and stay on, even after starting the engine. Power going into the key switch (red wire) is battery voltage. When I turn the key on it drops to 8 or 9 volts. Same voltage coming out of the key switch (white Wire). Hour meter never comes on so I cant get any error messages or codes. What should I look for before getting raped by the dealer?

I was wondering if this new module had to be cal to the machine? I know I have a bad sending unit for the fuel gauge but it also had codes for the temp sender and hydraulic temp..

John Deere 410E

First post here.

I'm looking at a 1998 John Deere 410E 4x4 extendahoe.

The planetary gears on the left rear are pretty much trashed.

I'm wondering if the rear end on the 410E is the same as a D, or C series?

Or if there is a good aftermarket source for these parts?

Or if there are any tractor salvage yards that may have these parts.

Any help is appreciated.

Hydraulic fluid spill reduction

Hi all, brand new to this forum, i am employed as a Fleet training co-ordinator for a municipality where we utilize standard tandem dump trucks, Vactor units, automated solid waste units, Cat and Volvo loaders, graders etc.

all of these units due to their operating components have large hydraulic tanks.

the solid Waste and vactor units in particular have many hydraulic components utilizing many hose to feed the components.

at least a couple of times a year these units will break a hydraulic hose and some are large enough to drain the tank before the operator notices.

Not only does this create a possible dry running pump, but environmental damage and posssible lawsuits (we had a motorcyclist go down after hitting hydraulic fluid left on the roadway)

Has anyone ever heard of an electronic tank level indicator that would either shut the PTO off or send an alarm to the operator to shut down the unit?

seems as though this would be pretty simple to do??

Your thoughts?

Fuel Consumption based on operation hours

Hello.

I have a question for fuel consumption based on operation hours.

For example, our 30 tonnage excavators use 30 liters/hr in our site.

but I'm not sure that if those excavators will operate over 5~10yrs then fuel consumption remains similar.

If you have an answer or official report for fuel consumption based on operation hours. Please share for me.

Very thanks.

Best Way to Splice Wiring

I'm planing on splicing into the clearance light circuit on our grain trailers to power strobes off switch on the back bumper. Had a bit of an argument on what is the right way. What is the the correct way to splice into automotive type wiring?

Confirmed...I am a computer idiot!

And I thought it would be simple. To purchase parts and materials I have to issue a Purchase Order to the vendor. The purchase order is one of those generic books you get from an office supply. Call the vendor, order part, issue number, write the info on the PO, attach PO to the ticket from vendor and send it on to the bookie. The thing I hate is that PO book. First, I'm left handed, I hate to write, I'd rather key on a computer. Second, I hate that PO book, having to put the divider between the carbonless pages to prevent bleed through, tearing out pages, always ordering a new book.

Simple solution, at least I thought, create a Word template of a simple purchase order. I have created a number of simple, yet workable templates. Granted, they ain't fancy with all the bells and whistles, but they get the job done. I can do this! But almost immediately, I thought about the purchase order number. I don't want to have to type it into each new PO, I'm certain to mess that up along the way. I want the PO number to be on the PO when I open a new document, meaning, it needs to be automatic and sequential.

Ok, I got this, we have this handy tool today known as Google! But that's where the train went off the tracks. I search doing sequential numbers on a Microsoft Word document and hello kick my arse I come up with stuff like Macro, Developer Ribbon, Code, Require Variable Declaration, Sub, yadda yadda. My God, a simple task, making sequential numbers on a Word template involves more geeky techno nerdiness than I'm even capable of wrapping my head around! So unless my small brain suddenly gets way smarter (NOT) I suppose I have to relent to the PO book.

Just Damn! :Banghead

Hydraulic pump on a Telsta bucket truck

Hi, I have a 1986 Ford Telsta Bucket Truck. It's my newest project to get up and running for doing work around the property. It came with an Onan 4.0BFA genset that had a PTO driven hydraulic pump on it top drive all the hydraulics on the truck. Right now I'm rebuilding the onan, so I came up with a way to move and test the hydraulics in the mean time. Since the pump has a lovejoy coupler on it, I welded together a mating piece that I could insert into a corded hand-held drill. It's a little slow, but it actually works really well driving the pump so I can move all the hydraulics (it's a 2 person job).

So with the corded drill in mind, I was thinking that instead of worrying too much about the generator, that I could just put a heavier electric motor on the truck and just use that to continue to drive the hydraulics. Since I won't be much farther than a 120vac outlet, this could actually work, since the rest of the actuators for the hydraulics and such are run off of the 12v system in the truck.

I was looking at using a 3/4 hp continuous duty 3600 RMP motor to drive the pump, and I was wondering if that was too high of an RPM, as I believe the genset runs at 1800 RPM.

In the specs about the hydraulics, it doesn't list an RPM, but it says 1.6 gpm @2400psi max, and 1200psi operating pressure. So with my calculations, it needs more like a 1-1/2 HP motor, but I wasn't sure if I could get away with what I was talking about using above.

Thanks for any input!

JD 450c lc miss tracking slow track

Changing hydraulics

I have just purchased Cat 302.5 mini excavator. I want to add a thumb. Obviously the hydraulic fittings are Cat. Can I change these to another make of fittings so that I can use the other attachments I have ( ie. post hole auger)?

Gehl 5635 sx Deutz 1011 Timing Belt Replacement

Hello,

I am about to try to change my timing belt on my 1998 Gehl 5635 sx skid steer. I bought the machine from a bank and they did not have any service history on the machine. It has around 3600 hours and I am afraid that they timing belt hasn't been changed and I do not want it to break and cause a lot of damage. I am was just hoping to get some advice and some do's and don'ts on the replacement process. Also is there anything else I should replace while I am working on it. I did a complete fluid service around 50 hrs ago. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Case 680H needs extendahoe hoses replaced

I purchase a 1981 Case 680H and when I use the extendahoe it leaks hydraulic fluid inside the dipper like a siv . Assuming that the issue is just a hydraulic hose, can I replace them without removing the bucket and extendohoe dipper? I was thinking if I just removed the top extendahoe cylinder cross pin, I could extend the piston a few inches out of the enclosed dipper towards the elbow, just enough to access the cylinder hose fittings. The 680H is larger than the the 580 so there is more room to work inside the dipper. Is this a workable shortcut?

If not how can I take off the extendahoe dipper in my backyard without a hoist or second machine? How much does the extendhoe dipper portion weigh.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Case 580b Boom Falling/Leaking Down

Let me start by saying that when I first started using it the boom stayed correct. But now after about 5hrs of use it now leaks down while operating. I've repacked both boom cylinders so that's not the concern. What else should I look at?

how much overhang is too much

G'day all, I've got a pc220-5 digger and currently dont have a way to move it around, it was delivered to us on a hyd widening $100k float and Im not sure I can quite justify spending that sort of coin on a trailer for an old farm excavator. Given the pc220-5 is 2.98 with meters wide with .6m wide track pads and most standard drop decks or floats a 2.5m wide is there enough track on the deck to keep it there with the normal amount of chains and binders? Or do we need to extend the trailer's width a little?

Any advice appreciated

Pre Purchase Help

mardi 22 avril 2014

Need some pre purchase skid steer advice.

First off let me say that im not partial to any brand at this point, as this would be my first skid.

I’ve looked at Bobcat, Caterpillar, & New Holland so far. Case would be another possibility but closest dealer does not have anything to look at.

Leaning toward either Bobcat or Caterpillar

Would mainly be owner operated +1 maybe.

Need some help in determining what exactly I need / don’t need spec wise

I have determined that I do want, 2 Speed, Air/Heat, Quick attachment hook up.

Need help with size machine(Lift), HP, Torque, Hydraulic power one brand vs another.

Thanks

Just bought a new Jensen Voyager ToughCam

Just picked up a new voyager tough cam for the Case SR200 at the dealer. They have a guy that will install it sometime in the next week or so.

Sometimes luck follows us, just so happens it was on sale 10% off and just had a price decrease. $329.00 CND tax in.

I figure that for this price all I would need to do is back into one vehicle or building :Banghead and regret spending a few hundred but end up paying thousands. :)

They look to a well built unit, anybody have ant experience with them? The one I bought "VOS7MDCL1B" is hard wired and will be wired to main power so when you turn on the machine the camera is on. The installer has installed numerous of them and says the he can mount up high head liner and on hinged side of the door. Thats the right hand side for us Case boys. He claims it can be installed in 90 minutes, time will tell.

I'll keep you updated after it's installed.

Hydrostatic Transmission Service, LLC

Just curious if anybody else here has had dealings with this company in Tupelo, Mississippi?

I have recently had what I will politely term a "less than satisfactory" experience doing business with them.

Wondering if this was the exception to the rule or if there's a long list of unhappy people like me out there?

Cheers then,

Allis HD7, Parts machine, any interest?

My dad has an allis HD7 that he said I could list for sale. It had a Left Steering clutch go bad about 15+ years ago. He parked it in the woods and there it sits. It has a 3-71 Detroit, straight blade (semi-U possibly), 3 or 4 speed trans with one reverse, the blade lift cylinders are mounted vertically to the ROPS(? can't seem to find that style on other hd7's i've seen), no winch. We know the blower seals were bad (if tipped a little to (Right?) side it would run on oil wide open). The main clutch was questional also. We put a salvage yard Right Front Idler (it has a little orange paint on it, the rest of the dozer has some yellow paint) about a year before it quit. I'm sure the tree rats have removed all the insulation from the wiring (at least there's not much in a hd7), and it looks like the trans/clutch access plates in the floor have been removed (they're there, but the squirrels have filled the seat/floor full of acorns, leaves and sticks.) It is parked on flat ground, (but no way to get a decent sized trailer snaked down the road to it), would need to be moved about 1/4 mile to trailer access. He would like to see it go to someone that needs some (rare?) parts rather than scrap yard. I took pics (including track chains, sprockets, idlers, and grousers). Is it worth posting pics and selling?

There's no rush, it's set for this long. i was telling him about this forum and said someone might be interested in it. We're in the Ozark Mountains, Central USA.

BTW Does anyone remember the heavy equipment salvage yard between Neosho and Granby, MO beside Alt 71 hwy/hwy 59A? i remember watching all that old Iron being sheared and hauled for scrap as i drove by. It went on for months. At one time they had a FD31 or 41? parked by the highway. it was the biggest dozer i've ever seen. (We got the hd7 idler there).

Cat 267B Pros/Cons

A friend of mine has a 267b for sale with less than 500hrs. It is fully loaded with post hole digger, 2 buckets, forks, trencher and I think that is it. It has been sitting for probably 8yrs since he closed up shop as a general contractor. He wants me to make him an offer an of course I want it as cheap as possible but don't want to screw him so what should I offer? Also are there any known problems with these machines. I know that the ask track system on the 257's have issues but I have never messed with the long track systems.

On my 580C, a last week working it, I broke one of the stabilizer leg pins. When it broke, it sounded like a rifle going off. The good news was that I was able to replace it easy.:D

Hey guys, new to the site and have a few questions for the experts. If you have to disassemble a link, what do you guys do to lubricate the pin joint after you do the repair in field? Also, are there tools for installing PPR rings or Wedge rings in the field? Thanks for any info.

Best aftermarket crawler seat, air or mechanical

I am currently running a D7h, mainly clearing trees off of farmland. The seat in my crawler is a Kab 301 and is a little tired, I could get new cushions but would like a little better seat. Should I go with the mechanical suspension or the air ride, and what brand is the best for Cat replacement seats. My local supplier has suggested an Ultra seat mechanical suspension J732 with medium backrest. Driving over stumps, rock piles, and blow dirt ridges, thought air maybe a little too bouncy

Different other 580b some strange plans... and stuf

So the deal on the bad motor backhoe fell through, but I did manage to land an auction for a runner, and cheap too.

Anyway, once I get it home I'm planning on adding a thumb to it, for now just fixed or pinned in place, but eventually I would like it to have hydraulic action. So my first question is how difficult would it be to plumb in another valve, it has the five stick on it now, three sticks for the bucket boom jib, and two for the outriggers. Haven't looked real closely at how its plumbed as its not home yet.

The second question is what kind of fuel use can I expect out of it, I don't run things wide open, infact just enough to keep em from dying is all I usually use.

And lastly how difficult are the brakes to change/repair, one of them is locking up as of now.

2004 Kubota kx91-3

Hi. I have a Kubota kx91-3. I added a thumb to it. It is plumbed up to the thumb area and has a pedal for it. My problem is that the thumb will only move in one direction. I found that the valve will only pull and will not push to reverse the flow of hydraulics. Any ideas on how I would go about making it work both ways? Thanks

Just a thought about pricing parts

I was told this by a parts guy and further backed by the parts manager . Company had a boom truck that had contacted a bridge while in motion , the head section caught a beam and pulled that end section out . It was an hour from the shop and the boss wanted a worst case idea what it would take to fix it .

Well that was a total stab in the dark but the boss gets what he wants . I called the local dealer for that brand and gave him a parts list . he called back and told me that they ( the manufacturer ) would not give prices until they had the serial number for that machine . This guy asked if I really needed all this stuff . Told him probably not but I was asked to check it out . He proceeds to tell me that pricing this stuff could cause problems down the road , The outfit that made the machine records when you check a parts price . That go's on record for that machine and if a product liability claim comes up that price check will have to be defended if ever a court case comes up . They are assuming you repaired something instead of replacing it .

Part's manager told the same story . This was with boom truck and crane parts , That's all I'm familiar with . Not sure if this translates to the entire construction industry but it what I run into .

Cat 613c transmission issue

I just traded some work for a 1991 Cat 613c scraper. It's a really good running machine. The only issue is that it will shift into first and second gear and pull fine. When I shift it into third fourth or fifth the transmission doesn't engage. It shifts into sixth gear just fine and has plenty of power. It also goes into reverse with no issues. I checked the Trans oil and I don't see any metal. Any ideas of where to start would be appreciated.

Looking at a first-time small dozer purchase

Hello, I am looking at a a late 70's Cat D3 and I need to know what to look for as far as potential problems and wear items. There appears to be 2400 hrs on it, he's asking $9700. It has a 6 way blade, all of it works great. It's a one owner, farm used unit. I've been around lots of different equipment, but I've never owned a dozer before. I know, of course, that the undercarriage is the big wear item, this particular unit appears to have a very good undercarriage. I started and ran the dozer for close to an hour, everything works with a few little idiosyncrasies. The left steering pedal needs to be pushed a lot harder to work than the right pedal, could that be an adjustment, or indicative of a major repair necessary?

There is a Rome winch on it, which I specifically need, I will be using it for some logging. Is anyone familiar with that winch? It didn't turn when I tried to use it, but they said it probably just needed some fluid. Sound possible? I guess I can just bring some fluid and try it, do they just use regular hydraulic fluid?

The shift handle doesn't put the unit into gear right away, after you let it warm up a little it eventually kicks into gear and runs fine when it gets going. You also have to run the handle just right to get it to go from forward to reverse, could that just be an adjustment? It's a power shift, if it makes a difference.

Any other thoughts on this machine, or just owning a dozer in general, would be appreciated. I will not be using it hard, really only am buying one for the particular job I am on. I was leaning towards the advantages of owning one, as opposed to renting or hiring it out.

Thanks!

Kubota kx121 running two attachments?

lundi 21 avril 2014

Hello all. I have a kubota kx121 with a quick attach and a hydraulic thumb. I had a quick attach plate made for my new holland mini I had that I could pin on my hydraulic hammer or my auger however it did not have a thumb. My dilemma is with the thumb on the kubota my auxiliary ports are being used. Is there a way to add another set of auxiliarys so I can leave the thumb on? I really don't want to remove the thumb just to hammer or auger.

BC 773 Manual Lift Release knob

Hi again, everyone!

I noticed a (about 1-1/8" square) red plastic knob next to seat bottom on my right side, it had been bent inward and was hidden almost under the bottom cushion. When I got ahold of it with my hand, it broke off. It is apparently connected a hydraulic valve of some kind, the manual says it's the "Manual Lift Release". Does anyone know what this does? How much trouble is it to fix this? How much trouble am I in by having the knob broken off and not usable?

Thanks again!

HD11E- rear main seal leak

Hello room, I have been given a project on my friend's Allis Chalmers HD11 dozer. we parked it 20 years ago believing the rear main seal was leaking on to the clutch. I have called a parts house and they advised me it is not a rope seal but a rubber seal and a wear sleeve. My question is, generally speaking, how would I replace this seal? the transmission/flywheel needs to be removed to expose end of crankshaft?

any help would be greatly appreciated..

Need advice with John Deere 310SE rear end problem

Hello everybody. I'm new to the forum, and am hoping you guys can steer me in the right direction.

I have recently acquired a 1998 John Deere 310SE for 'light duty' personal use around the property, knowing it has an apparent problem with the rear end. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, and have a lot of experience in light mechanical and fab work, but I've never worked on heavy equipment. So, I thought it would be best to ask a few questions regarding what I might expect before I start opening things up.

Here's what it's doing...

In 4wd, the front axle has power and the backhoe will drive both forward and backward. In 2 wheel drive, the rear driveline turns, but there's no power getting to the wheels in either forward or reverse, and there's a pretty heavy clunk-clunk-clunk coming from the rear end. If I engage the diff lock in 2WD, it will power itself in reverse, but in forward it still clunks and won't move (which seems very odd to me).

Initially, I thought it might be a problem with the reverser, but since the rear driveline is actually turning, I'm assuming the problem is entirely confined to the rear end. And since it has power in reverse with the diff locked, I don't think it's a problem with either the planetaries, or the ring and pinion set. Instead, I'm leaning toward the differential itself, or maybe the diff-lock system.

I think I can get to the diff-lock system with the rear end in place, but if I have to get into the diff itself, I'm pretty sure I have to drop the whole axle... and, the backhoe won't fit through the door to get into my shop, so I'll be working on it in the yard. It would certainly be nice if I didn't have to pull the rear end out and drag it to the shop in order to fix this... But, I can if I have to.

What do you think? Am I on the right track? Have I overlooked something? Are there any quick checks I could do that could narrow down the possibilities?

Thanks for any advice.

(BTW - I do have a service manual for reference.)
