Parked the old girl (Cat 3066 engine) at idle for 5 minutes to trim some trees, hopped back in just as the oil light and klaxon came on. shut her down pronto. checked oil, fine. tried to get a pressure tester but its a holiday weekend here. removed oil pressure relief plug and spring, bits of something soft in it, not a great volume but she's not clean. two wear marks on side of spring, very new to this so just feeling my way thru it. Could the relief spring be jamming up inside the tube it sits in and stopping oil pressure rising? Is there a way to test the spring, does it need to be a certain length or what.
