544J Trans Fault Limp Home Mode

dimanche 20 juillet 2014

As the title says I have a 544J that goes into limp home mode. It has a trans fault light on the moniter. The machine will drive forward and reverse but stays in second gear from what I can tell.

The FNR switch on the monitor appears to work. I can go through all 4 gears and they change on the moniter. Say you back up and go into forward, it will not change direction unless you come to a complete stop and wait for 1 second. I've been going through this machine for over a week now trying to figure out why its kicking into limp mode :Banghead

The Limp Home code is TCU 522365.13

Things I have done so far:

Replaced FNR switch with the new Hall effect switch and harness adapter for the ground. (No change)

Swapped TCU with a sister machine. (No change)

Changed the harness that comes up from the floor to the monitor, parking brake switch FNR Etc. (No Change)

Opened the solenoid cover on trans and inspected harness. Seems ok.

Cleaned, Inspected and Dielectric Greased and and All Electrical plugs, connections, TCU plug, Fuse Panel Plugs, Cannon/Bulkhead plugs grounds etc.

I learned that they had this issue before and the monitor was replaced. That fixed the problem temporarily but it came back I was told. The new monitor had 200hrs.

I've been back and forth with JD and they can't figure out why it's going into limp mode, they say something else is causing it. It doesn't spit out anymore TCU codes other than limp home mode. It does however give me a hydraulic pressure high/low circuit. I called JD about it and they told me it does not have a hydraulic pressure gauge. The monitor reads 0.

Another thing i noticed on the monitor in Service mode is when you open up the switches menu it will tell you what switches are on/off. The Parking brake switch according to the monitor the center and on stays off. Yet the parking brake does turn on and it does release.

Now I have been able to make it go off on a start and drive it around normally. But once I shut it off and restart it comes back on. It's intermittent when it wants to work.

Thanks all for reading hopefully someone has some insight on what I can check. I can usually figure out most things but this is one that has me baffled.
